When hard wiring the coolant temp sensor to the ecu the negative wire grounds out

and cuts the fuel relay.? This is a 1996 civic dx. running the stock ecu (p2e)WITH AN 1994 b18b SWAP. using the stock harness.only code is coolant temp sensor.
