88 Accord shudders when goinf 1st to 2nd
What cause the above? I change fluid with Dexron 3 but no change in
behaviour. Someone suggested that only Honda ATF is the stuff to use. Would
that cause this problem ? It started to happen on a 30 KM trip one night.

Yeah, the Dexron can cause it to shudder. So can mechanical failure.

Re: 88 Accord shudders when goinf 1st to 2nd
Dexron II is the specified transmission fluid. Dexron III is the
replacement for Dexron II and is supposed to meet Dexron II requirements.
The Honda ATF supposedly has conditioners that may increase your seal life,
etc. in Honda transmission. Obviously you can't prove it.
You may just need the throttle cables adjusted. From the gas pedal there
are two cables. One opens the throttle at the carburetor, the other tells
the transmission how far you're pressing the gas (tells it how hard you want
to accelerate. I imagine you have a lot of miles on the car and it is about
16 years old. It is likely something is worn. Still, that something could
just be the throttle cable.
