Does the light flash while driving? If so, the shift solenoid is bad.

What's your mileage, and when did you last change the tranny fluid. Was
it honda brand? How much did you use?

Re: 94 accord, d4 light blinks just before starting engine.
Thanks for getting back.
The mileage is 250k on the body. The tranny was a replacement of my
last dead tranny. THis replacement was from an accord with about 70k
miles. And the fluids used are only Honda.
I checked with the mechanic (that I trust) and he said it was some
kind of computer code, most likely. I thought I'd run this by this
group to see if anyone had seen that before. I suspect it is related
to the ABS somehow. It doesn't make sense to me yet but I'm sure
they're related.

Re: 94 accord, d4 light blinks just before starting engine.
It flashed several times when I was having a tough time getting the
engine to start. I would get the engine started and do it again to see
if I could re-create it. The ABS light would burn after it started and
the d4 lamp would blink before it started.
The ABS light was on and would not go off, the engine was a bit
difficult to turn ( I'm thinking the abs pump was engaged while
cranking)
