Any good mechanic in Houston, TX?
Hey guys,
I just experienced something that killed any good opinions I had for my
ex-mechanic and I need to search for another one. I'm in Houston, TX in the
Westchase District near Westheimer and Fondren. Does anyone out there know
of or can recommend me to any mechanic who does good work on Hondas close to
me say in about a 5 mile radius or any if that? Cheap labor is a plus
(hispanic mechanic).... hehe 8o)

I used to use the Hondacar Shop, which is pretty close to that area (on
Dunvale between Westheimer and Westpark). They had very good mechanics
and did good work, but I quit going there after I had an experience that
left a bad taste in my mouth - long story short, they expanded to a
second location and I felt that the service I was receiving was no
longer equal to the price I was being charged (they used to be cheaper
than the dealer, but more than other independent shops). A lot of people
swear by them, however, so YMMV.
I use a much smaller shop now that I have nothing but the highest praise
for in terms of honesty, quality of work, and customer service, but
they're nowhere near your part of town - Import Automotive on Walton,
near Patton and I-45 North. It's in a residential area, one of those
places you'd never stumble across if you didn't know it was there. I
found out about them from a recommendation on one of the houston.*
groups and started using them several years ago after I had a
disagreement with the Heights-area shop I'd been previously using when
they performed some diagnostic tests I hadn't explicitly authorized, and
then rather than removing the charges from the bill, offered to credit
the amount toward the next service I had there. Needless to say, there
wasn't a next time.

Yeah I know the one you're talking about. I wondered about them because I
only wanted to jam my rear window with a wooden stick and they wanted to
charge me an hour of labor, or $65 and this was 2 years ago. I went to a
little side shop owned my hispanics and paid $20. But I'll check them out.
Thanks!!
