I don't believe you were ever in Montreal. What color is the railing at the
Customs area at the airport?

Bullshit, "Mike". Most places give you the exchange. There is normally a
sign posted next to the cash with the current US exchange on it. It's 1.30
as I write.

Montreal is a wonderful city. Way better than Toronto. And with better
drivers, too.

I wouldnt blame all Canadians for that bad apple giving you no change on an
american 20 cause you can get ripped off right in the usa by that type of
person-course you would have to let them do it to you there too.
There is buttheads in every country, you just were expecting it from a nice
Canadian. Anywhere near here(maritime Canada) has a big sign near the cash
or outside advertising the american exchange rate so you know you wont get
ripped when you go in. Now I see why. Its also makes for competition amongst
themselves for the best rate offered to Americans to get them in the door.
Better come here eh.

I must agree with you guys here. I live in Alaska and drive into and through
Canada quite often. Averages about twice a year. Admittedly, I seldom get
much further east than Winnipeg but I have found the Canadians to be very
friendly, helpful, and just good people. Obviously, you can get that 10%,
but that 10% exists in every group, regardless of its composition. I don't
agree with much of Canadian politics but then I don't agree with a lot of
U.S. politcs either. The Canadians I have dealt with were always ready to
explain things like their taxes (in whatever province), their traffic laws
and regulations, and other things that are Canadian in nature and unfamiliar
to us'uns from the USA.

Just my observations,

Not to mention, the fact that tourists can also get the sales tax refunded

*Shudder* thinking of buying a car that has been through several Canadian
winters... A friend from Toronto once told me he had to toss away an
otherwise perfectly good car, because the floor was completely rusted
