My wife got a 2004 Sonata V-6 auto with all the goodies, and we have put
about 12k miles on it. No problems have been encountered to date. I
find overall performance on the highway somewhat above average for a car
of its size/weight and it gives a real solid ride. We are comfortable
with the warranty and our local dealer has a good reputation in the
area. The Sonata looks good too !
This past October I traded a 2003 Corolla for a 2005 'Lantra GT. I use
it to commute about 250 miles per week, with a combination of highway
and city driving. This one is going to be a keeper. Fuel economy may
not be the best in its class, but I find that an acceptable trade-off
for a little edge in performance. IMHO this was a good trade - the
Corolla is over priced and somewhat stingy on performance and interior
space compared to the Elantra.

Good call!
I have 112,000 on my '02 Sonata v6 GLS and have had no problems except a
slow antenna (see below). It's now working perhaps because it was just
frozen. BTW... I'm still on my first timing belt with an appointment next
week to be replaced.
You'll love it!

You dumped a 2 year old car? Not that there is anything wrong with buying an
Elantra, but isn't that a little excessive?

You've obviously never driven a semi-modern Corolla. Cars that slow are
dangerous.
I'd take a 3-banger Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift over that.

So did my old flat-head six Plymouth! But who wants to go
back to the days when a heater was an option?
