California Emissions Package ??
I was doing some serious looking at the new Hyundai Elantra.
One of the items on the "sticker" was $100 for "California Emissions
Package"
The dealer claims they all come that way.
Personally, I'm suspicious.
???? in Pennsylvania

I read some of the Elantras with the CA-emissions package are
assigned to neighboring states of CA-emissions states(CA ME MA
VT NY).

The Feds are beating on CA for L.A. air-quality issues that, in spite of
being better than at any time in the last 50 years, is not as good as some
major cities. Short of leveling the mountain ranges around the L.A. basin,
the State has to keep enhancing their smog equipment, while also
periodically lowering acceptable levels of certain emissions for the
bi-annual smog certifications required for licensing used vehicles - kind of
like discriminating against poor people who can't afford the repairs on
their older cars. It affects the other States as well, but it's not a
California issue. You can thank the Feds.
