LanEvo
well, my brother's a major nerd and made me watch Inital D about 4 years ago, and when watching the 3rd or 4th stage the LanEvo came up. I remember thinking that they were so cool. I finally got my G1, working on my G2 in Nov. I went on the Mitsubishi site and they had a Lancer, but a Lancer '08, and it's not an evolution series. So I have two questions: Are LanEvos still sold? And if so, are they sold in Canada? Are there any used Lancer Evolutions in Toronto?
Sorry, that was three, but I had to sneak the last one in there.

ooh those are the ooooold school EVO's, nice! I'd love a Mirage if I could get one.
As for the Evo IV's 3lastwords, if I'm not mistaken they do not meet Canadian safety standards(specifically the front impact standards).

IIRC originally the evos weren't brought in because of Canadas small market, then they thought of bringing them in but Canada has 8kmh rule, where a car hitting a wall can have no mechanical damage at 8kmh, I think the Evos suffered damage to the radiator invalidating them and Mitsu decided its not worth to redesign the car solely for the Canadian market. And people are correct the Evo X is supposed to be coming here.

Well Seeing as how im an EVO nut, and im dying to get my hands on one as well, I know most of these things said are true, However its Evo I thats legal, the Evo III IIRC doesn't meet the criteria YET! They are changing that 15yr rule very shortly here, which is going to suck VERY hard for us canadians to import any good cars here such as Skylines,Evo's, and anything FUN! The 8km/hr rule is literally stopping us from getting any of the Newer Evo's such as VIII or IX !!! However there are a few legalities to this, as I know for a fact there are 2 legal VIII's in Canada, 1 is in Toronto, and 1 is in Quebec! How they got them legal, I have no idea and when I asked they blantly disregarded my questions and moved onto other topics :P However the Evo I is a wicked car, I would wait for the Evo X this feburary(holy spell check)
However if you decide to import one, good luck!! 6mos waiting list on most Evo's right now, and when you finally get it, when getting it "legal" the Evo X will be here!!! Damn I want one even more now!! lol

yes but evo X in my opionin has lost all its roots with this new one....
- it doesent even have the legenday 4g63 any more... Now replaced with a all aluminum mb11.. oo gooo honda!! lol..(sarcasm) and no actual 5-6 speed manual. ONLY a semi manual with paddle shifts..... I dont know.. Im not to impresed..Id much rather have a STi now... but thats just me...
I was pondering.. I have Immidiate family in georga and i was talking to them that i wanted to buy a evo IX (9) and drive it in canada.. but licenced in georga,, and am still considering it...
Its not illeagal to drive the car in canada.. its just illeagal to regester it in canada.....

well if the law doesent change, you will have no problem importing a even in the 15 years from build date.
BUT.. its seems like every one thinks the law is goin to change.. I dont know either way so i cant say anything...about that..

there are more than a dozen "Legal" Evo's in Canada. Most of them are VIN Swapped Ralliarts/OZ's, but there are a couple of legit Evo's registered as such within Canada, How they were registered is anyones guess, I think someone had some friends at the MTO who looked the other way, as the Evo is a valid selection on the MTO's registration system (not sure why a car that is on the RIV banned list is still listed on the MTO registration system). There is also a couple of New Yorkers with EVO VIII and IX's registered and Plated in NY and driven up here.
The EVO X is a beautiful car, but I am not holding my breath on it showing up in Canada any more. We were told Jan 07, then Sept 07, then Dec 07 then Feb 08, so until I see something in writing from Mitsubishi Canada saying the Evo is a go, and they are allowing dealers to take pre-orders on them (be careful of this right now) I will not put a penny down on a new Evo X.
