Engine almost out Need help!

As yal al know i'm pulling my stinkin motor and everything is going well. I'm down to the last part which is the transmission and it looks like the hardest part.Should I remove the tranny from the motor or disconnect the driveshaft and pull it out together.Any advice would be helpful....I gotta have the motor out this weekend so it can be rebuilt!

I pulled them together, it was a lot easier IMO..

Also easier to reinstall that way too..

yea the crank dealy that allows the chain to move back and fourth is the cats *** when it comes to pulling the motor. its all about tiltin and moving the hoist a bit at a time. youll get it. good luck bro. if i didnt have work everyday this week, id offer to come down and give ya a hand.

I pulled all the accessories and the radiator as well, just give yourself lots of time and at least another set set of hands to help move, adjust, and watch for stuff that might be hanging up.

if something doesn't move any further figure out what harness or bolt was missed (I have broken a few harnesses and sending units getting in a hurry)

Update: I pulled the motor this passed sunday and its not good. I dropped the oil pan and found several metal pieces in the oil....guess what it was ? rod bearings.I'm so freakin mad cause if I had did this sooner I could saved a lot of money. So my ? to you guys are should i do a basic build and have my car running in a couple weeks or should I build the 383 which will take a little longer .

find a cheap motor to put in it if you need to drive it in the mean time and then build your motor. if you odn't need your car right away take your time, and do what you want.

Honestly if your rod bearings are toast, there is a good chance your stock crank might be toast as well.

It doesn't cost that much more to get a stroker crank. If it turns out you need one then go ahead and get the longer one. Just make sure that if you are going to assemble it yourself that you make sure your rods don't end up coming in contact with your cam. It can happen, esp with a higher lift cam.

My simple advice is if you have the opportunity to go bigger do it, if you don't you'll regret not doing it later...
