i've used duplicolour automotive primer before, and duplicolour paint on top, came out nice... what do you plan on priming? i dont think duplicolour is good for large sections though...

Morton 2K acrylic urethane is what I use.

Only comes in gallons though, and needs a spray gun. Rattle cans suck.

what are you priming?

I'm gonna be priming an 81 monte carlo im redoing,I plan on getting the whole car painted. The body is pretty decent, aside from a couple small patches of rust I have to sand down, some paint peeling in the rear near (Guess the last guy had it painted), and the eyesore where the half vinyl top used to be lol. And possibly an 86 pontiac parisienne im driving right now, trunk is covered in surface rust and im debating on some primer, might look a bit better than the brown haha.

Thanks for the replies guys

You can buy gallons of duplicolor paint, canadian tire has them, and it turns out fine.

Personally, I buy my paint from a small PPG retailer near my house...

primer is good for many reasons. some of the reasons include that it helps the paint bond better to the body. also, say you car is like a billion different colours (parts from other cars etc.), if you paint it like that, the paint will be different shades around your car. the primer gives it a uniform base so the paint should come out one shade

Yes, very nescassary.

And the type of primer is very important, especially if it has be used for etching.

Flash times are very important too...Painting a car is quite complex. Do LOTS of reading.
