well personally i would take the rotary, but i would only take it if you are highly mechanically inclinded. I mean rotarys are touchy in most poeples eyes, but if you can understand them and work on them to make some half decent power then that can be highly respected. Mind you the rotart engines are efficienct, but lack torque. If you want to make some real ponnies you need some apex seals and a nice rebuild, mind you the rebuild on a rotary is much less complicated then a piston engine.

I am not a fan of the 180sx or 240sx chassi due to motor selections, but the RB. I think the sr20 is an awsome engine to work on and fairly easy, but i despise the ca18!

i agree with crazyae, juss be careful like he said the rotary engines are quite difficult to work on if you have no experience neccesary, but those rx-7's are small and peppy. How much power are you aiming for and what kind of car are u trying to build up a drag, drift?

I actually wasn't planning to build this car towards any specific. I'm just planning to make it just for a fun streetable car to drive + a car to work on for a project. So really, there isn't any HP I'm aiming for.

I'm purchasing a car for project so that I can use it during my Co-op/Apprenticeship program. Since it'll be mine, it's more so the matter of which one is better to restore?

well to be honest i don't know what you would expect from your coop towards you car. I mean alot of mechanics can;t grasp rotaries like they can piston engines. If you plan on having a car you can work on and learn from i would get a piston engine as the rotary engine might take some time understanding diagnosis.

Same engine options in both coupe and hatch so it basically comes down to looks preferance.

I prefer the coupe over the hatch looks wise, but it really is a personal thing. If you can't decide then it ain't the car for you.

I love both chasis, that's why it's so hard to decide. I see so many more fastbacks though... but I was planning I doing a S13 front end conversion on both. Silvia's and Sileighty's.. I love them =\
