sr5's and gts's are all ae86's
they only differ in 4ag vs. 4ac
interior parts
disks vs. drums
clusters gts reads 240km/h and the sr5 is 180 i think, never sat behind the wheel of an sr5 tho but i've deffinitly seen enough of them

if anyone wants to build their "drifter" go for an sr5 cause there cheap, get a 4agze swap done and convert the rest of the car to gts parts and your smileing

or instead of upgrading the parts to gts parts. Upgrade to performance parts. So instead of switching drum brakes for the gts disks. Get a big brake kit.

AE86 Came in GT-S and SR5
basic differences that i can think of are
SR5
carburated engine
drum brakes in rear
black bumpers
maybe some interior differences
GTS
DOHC 16v engine
all around Disc brakes
2 tone paint
I've had a 1988 Corolla SR5 i think there known as AE92's
and I upgraded to a 1987 Corolla GT-S aka AE86

I mean if you were to buy an SR5, and a GTS,from lets say 1986, in north america specifically, and look under the hood at the firewall, the SR5 would say AE86, and the GTS would say AE88.

No pics, I was looking at buying that car, I was Initial D Taxed OUT of contention lol, It was a GT-S, had the 4ag and all, and I clearly saw "AE86" on the fire wall.

i have a 1985 GT-S

both the SR5 and GT-S r called AE86

the GT-S came with
--------------------------
front lip on the bumper
snowflake rims
stiffer shocks
3 spoke stearing wheel
diffrent cluster (check engline light)(oil pressure)
DOHC 16V 4A-GE fuel-injected motor
oil cooler
leather 2 tone seats / panels
4wheel dick breaks
better rear end
stronger fuel pump
sun roof (86-88)

PS i will take a pic of my code for u just to show it its also called AE86 on the GT-S

the SR5 in Jap r called AE85 but all AE86 in Jap r the GT-S, in the US and other part of the world both SR5 and GT-S r called AE86

Okay actually I was getting the chassis code on the firewall and the VIN confused. On the GTS, the VIN says AE88, on the SR5 the VIN says AE86.
