I had my hood off for 2 and half months and never got pulled over. I got in a car accident and didn't have money for a hood and the last one was bent to so I just took it off. i passed cops and cops passed me and seen it was missing. i was even beside a cop at a red light

not having a hood on ur car is illigal to my knowledge. there are to many mechanical things that could go wrong under the hood of a car to not have one present.its a good question tho
