What section of the HTA were you charges under (written on citation)?
|
The plate is to be displayed mounted to the front of the car. Some officers will write a ticket for it in the window...some will just warn you. You got the wrong one. :nono:
It's easier just to pay it, and put the plate on the front. BTW, if it was there for looks, example you think it looks dumb on the bumper, it looks a million times worse in the window. |
no i didnt put it on the window for looks, it was winter and i was working on the car so i took everything off it.
tonight i will get the ticket and tell you the exact HTA i was charged for. but all and all im going to pay it. a buddy of mine said if i went the next day in the morning to the police station where i was ticketed, and told them my situation thats the only possible way i might have been let off, other than that i gotta pay |
They may have let you off at the station.
It's one of 'those' areas that technically it's against the HTA, but it's a mean officer who writes you up without a warning. |
Highway Traffic Act: 7 (1) (b) (i)
Signature of issueing provincial offences officer: he signed in pencil, then overtop in pen. Comment: Drive motor vehicle plate improperly displayed --- can i go to court and say i wasn't warned? or will nothing work, jus pay it? |

7. (1) No person shall drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless,
(a) there exists a currently validated permit for the vehicle; (b) there are displayed on the vehicle, in the prescribed manner, (i) number plates issued in accordance with the regulations showing the number of the permit issued for the vehicle, or I can't find the "Prescribed Manner" but, Ya, I think you're hosed. I got stopped once because the LEO couldn't see my trailer plate mounted in the factory position (on axle... snowmobile trailer). But no ticket, just told to remount rearward. If I were you, I'd still contest it and hope the cop doesn't show. I beat a trivial ticket that way once (couldn't find my insurance slip until AFTER the ticket was written). If he does show, change your plea to Guilty w/explanation and try explaining to the JP that the plate COULD be seen, so at least your intentions were good. He may drop the fine (possibly in 1/2). Remember, your insurance company will likely raise your rates over this, even though there is no added risk to them. |
Thats what ill do, thanks for all the help

put the plate back on the front. Go to a mechanic and say have him write you something saying that he repaired your licence plate bracket.
Take that to the JOP and do the Guilty with explanation. Chances are he will drop the charge. |

I'd just go in and explain you were just moving it from winter storage and didn't realize that it had to be mounted for a short trip to the mechanic. (since that's where a temp permits has to be displayed). Not everyone can be as big a dork as the cop who wrote you up. :dunno: |
this ticket for improper display of front license plate can affect ur insurance for real??? that must be a joke i duno ...
|
ticket
always fight it because half the time the cop does not show up to court
i beleive insurance counts all hat stuff its a minor offence i think they classify it as |
yeah i really hope it wont affect my insurance, i doubt it
