Help with a ticket!!!
hey guys last night i got a ticket for failing to stop for a stop sign. i know all of you are going to bash me saying are you en stupid, learn how to drive blah blah. I was dark and raining hard and i just didnt see the sign. it was on a road i hadnt been on before. Anyways I got a ticket and its for 110 and 3 points. I cant afford to keep the points my insurance will go through the roof. So my question is should i take it to court and ask to reduce the points or just pay for xcopper or something like that and get them to make the ticket disapear?
thanks for your help

wow, 16 and already a 3 point ticket
most people here will just tell you to fight it (you'd be stupid NOT to), so the question is, are you capable of defending yourself in court? from the looks of things, you're not ... you're only 16 and probably will choke in court, so than hire an agent like xcopper or points, if you're unsure about how well they'll do, ASK before you sign anything, most places will give you advice w/o charge and give you a realistic idea of what they'll do or how they'll fight it.
oh, and get ready to fork over $350
good luck

Fight and Maybe ask the crown to plea to the offence of "disobey sign". It would still be $110, but does not have any demerit points. Sec 151. However this would be stretch b/c this section is for a King's Hwy. Don't use..Section 182 Disobey sign as it still has 2 points.
Go measure the stop sign that you violated. Sign must be 60cm x 60cm. Word stop must be 20cm high. Distance from bottom of sign to ground has to be over 1.5m and not more than 2.5m. Left edge of sign must be closer than 2m to the road. See if any of these qualify to get the ticket quashed. ONT REG 615 sec 6

mike, if u just show up in court and say you dont want the points and will just pay the ticket, i'd probably be more inclined to think that they would be even harsher on you because they probably think that you will be a repeat offender and can afford the ticket price.... Hence the whole point of the demerit system. My 2 cents, hire someone, or go plead your butt off... i dont have 2 much experience, but i did get a 32 over $150 ticket with 4 pts reduced to 15 over $55 and no pts WITH the cop showin up (bastard)... I just went up to the prosecutor and pretended to not know anything (which i didnt) and thats what she offered me...
P.s dress up and dont give them the impression that u arent some punk kid, but just made a honest mistake... good luck

Did you just blow by the stop sign or did you make an attempt to stop?
Because if you made an attempt in the heavy rain then it may be enough to fight in court if you say that i attempted to stop i couldnt see the sign and when i did it was more dangerous to stop because you would loose control of your car then to stop by slowing down. The weather is on your side on this issue,
if you dont have that then id hire an xcopper, what they do is they know the cops and basically take him to dinner or something so that he drops the charges
i know its corrupt but if your ticket is over $200 then its worth it. Also if you cannot afford the points the $300 you will fork over to protect yourself is well worth it!

another question is the cop said probably be about 9 months for a court date.... what if after i hand in the ticket and then i decide i want to do it through xcopper can i still do that?

decide to fight the ticket, you can have xcopper come in anytime after, also the more you can delay your court date the better for your case, you can say i have such and such give good reasons not to be able to make it on the date they set and have them delay every time you set a date, this is good for making things hazy on the part of the officer and increase the possibility of him not showing up!
