Come on, its obvious, there are your decent cops that live by the books and write you tickets for nothing, then there are the cops that will let you go, then there are teh cops that dont seem to give a and are the ones who are importing the drugs into the country... Its gotta get in somehow, gotta have people on the inside allowing the in.

Had to put my 2 cents and reminded me of this..

The difference between big organized gangs and cops are how it's funded.. one is illegally the other is funded by us( legally).. Cops, the LEGAL organized gang.

Its funny how they stated they found XX amount of drugs and seized money.. but at the conference.. that number drastically drops.. but by accident the repo van is conviniently parked in the garage for the cops to help themselves... oh.. btw.. I remember cops runnin over pedastrians in T.O. Guess that was part of that street racing death poll..

You're correct, everything is corrupt as long as humans are involved.. and anyone behind the wheel can kill.. so go bust up the organized soccer mom with there mini van cause they drive like idiots and pissed off cause their child lost the game or unjust ref. ruined there mood. Next to your stereotyped street racers.. I notice Mini VAn are the most aggressive drivers out there speeding and weaving. Lets profile them too TMR Toronto Minivan Racing

I totally agree with taht comment about the soccer moms. THey are the worst drives now and **** everyone off.. Why dont you start pullin over them, why you dont is because they are women and middle aged... Pulling them over is like pullin over an import for no reason. So come on, this is bullshit, pull them over 2. Do something with your lives and get the fuken soccer moms off the road.

Like i said earlier (just repeating myself, because there is pretty big chance of you not catching that part) - i had a 100% clean record and was very polite with him.

Completely untrue. The judicial process is in place for a reason.

B6T, if you were in a similar situation, you would do whatever you could to reduce the impact to your record and insurance rates, just as anyone would. Even the officer providing us with so much entertainment in this thread would do the same if he actually recieved a citation for speeding. He knows the process, and would make use of it like anyone else.

Let's all be realistic and keep in mind that, moral posturing aside, the shoe may be on the other foot someday.

I just don't undertand the whole anti-cop thing on this board. Alot of you talk a tough game here, but how many of you call the officer who pulls you over a pig to his face? if you do you're much braver than I (and much dumber). Lets see how greatful you guys are when your car gets broken into/stolen, or your house is bugularized, and you need them then.

Busting the cops ***** for doing their job (regardless of your opinion of the job) is just plain useless and juvenile. The laws are there, obey them and stop crying when you get busted.

I'm a firm beliver in profiling as it is the most effective manner in which to find offenders for various criminal acts. You all whine about it because it puts a damper on your fun, but would probably encourage it if it was used to combat the recent spate of gang shootings in Toronto.

People also seem to be saying that pretty much all their attention should be focussed on the gang shootings and not street racing, does this extend to other non-violent crimes where no one is hurt? Again the example of unoccupied home invasions, car thefts/break-ins.

I've gotten a couple of tickets in the past, was always polite. Never got a break on the road but when it came time in court they had their notes with them and cut me some slack there as I was polite when approaching them there. I never once blamed the officers for ticketing me, HTA violations are of an absolute liability nature, meaning its all your own damn fault.

I was talking recently with a friend who is not a fan of the street racing scene but is a racing fan. He said he'd never run on the street, just not worth it, the police hassles and the uncontrolled danger factor. He drives the hour or so to Cayuga pays his cash. They let him warm up his tires properly, stage properly for a good launch, and at the end gets a time-slip to back up his claims.

Does the order to appear state the violation was for speeding at 160km/h in a 100 zone? The officer could have felt that your driving was in a wreckless or dangerous manner and cited you for that offence as opposed to the actual speeding violation.

Not at all.

Gang violence, shootings, and unoccupied home invasions, etc all involve damage to persons or property.

No one is suggesting that traffic enforcement be discontinued. Obviously there is a need for some kind of control. However, we should be focusing most of our resources where they are needed most - not on enforcement of regulations that police officers themselves do not follow.

And what makes you so sure that the majority of police do not obey those regulations? I see a number of import drivers disobeying regs, but I don't take that observation to automatically infer that all import drivers are the same.
If that's the case, then why is there a project erase and why are the majority of the drivers that get pulled over usually driving a somewhat "modified" car? I usually see minivans and SUVs speeding and i have yet to see a minivan being pulled over. i think a 4000lb minivan speeding is a lot more dangerous than a 2 door 1500lb honda civic getting into an accident.

I see both side of the story Chubby.. and I"m not sayin it's easy to be a cop either..( I personally would rather be a garbagemen then to deal with the stress of being a cop ) but to be honest.. where were they when my parents got their house broken into?? Umm showed up next day.. ya thanx.. if there was any evidence.. its gone now..( specially with 4 kids in the house @ that time )

Where were they when my car was broken into and destroyed ( on blocks they took my OEM rims for god sake too) cause I left it @ work overnite cause I decided not to drive home cause I went drinkin after work ( caught on shitty security camera from work but not enough detail), called the cops, they asked wat was taken I told them them everything including the wheels and you know what they said to me? "Come down to the station" Umm.. hello.. if my in car ( didn't swear but was polite on the phone ) wasn't raped naked I could GET DOWN TO THE STATION dumb ***.. they didn't send a cruiser or cops over cause they said they were too busy.. well.. off to lunch with a friend in his car, and guess wat cop was just @ the corner McDonald.. I asked him if he can take a report cause I Can't get to the station, and if he's on-duty. Yes, he's on duty piggin out on fries and coffee.. and he said no.. he's on a call.. WTF ???? AT macdonalds calling wat? a burger with your fries.. I got mouthy as I left cause it was B.S. so the cop left, I drive back to work.. well guess wat he's sittin @ a parkin lot 4 driveway down from my work.. explain that

Profiling is a perfectly legal policing and investigation tool in most cases. It's also an important tool. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, well, you can make the probably conclusions.

Being gay or lesbian, or of a particular race or religion is not illegal, so profiling on the basis of that is appropriate and a violation of a person's Charter rights. But profiling based on behaviour, consumption patterns, one's activities (including driving habits), one's associates, one travel habits, etc is perfectly legal. Lifestyle is often a good indicator of what a person is.

How do you think many crimes are solved? How do you think gang members are tentatively identified prior to them actually being caught doing a crime?

If you don't want to be treated like a duck, don't walk or quack like one.
So if that's the case, what do i do if i'm black? Do I have to start acting white, change the way i speak, the way i act, and change my skin colour so that i will not get profiled?
