Profile is effective, if a disproportionate number of crimes are committed by a group of people disproportionate to their numbers in the community that requires attention. Not only addressing through the legal system, but also root causes need to be addressed. Look at the current situation in new york and London, where to be politically correct they have to conduct their random searches of people by a numbering system. I.e. check every 5th person. They are spending their time counting people and searching someones 80 year old grandmother as opposed to targetting the group that is predominantly comittee the crimes. Obviously not all people of certain groups are guilty of the offences but you do need to narrow it down. There are calls from New York city councellors to allow to use profiling for better alignment of resources. You all talk about streamlining resources and targetting them towards where they're needed. Take the gang violence, you going to look at mothers pushing baby strollers when they're not the demographic that is running around shooting each other? As for where I was born and grew up, Toronto, along the Jane and Finch corridor, born at Jane and Finch hospital. My parents, born here too, grandparents and great grandparents too. How about you? Do you really need to relegate to name calling and threats of violence, are your language skills that weak that you cannot convey your point across without those crutches of stupidity? I try to write my posts with some semblance of civility despite the fact that my view(s) may not be popular. |

You keep saying that police don't follow the same regs, but based on what evidence? How many cops have you personally followed to check on their personal driving habits? You keep also sayng "focusing resources where they are needed most", but do you even know how much police resources go into traffic enforcement? And again, I ask, what level do you think is appropriate? |

Why are you on the board? Shouldn't you be working a second job at McDonalds to pay for your speeding ticket and insurance increase? Oh, I forgot - your mommy and daddy pay the bills for your misdeeds. |

As for resources, the ERASE program is specifically intended to show the public that significant police resources are being directed towards eliminating the issue. Perhaps you could provide us with some hard allocation statistics that would dispel this view? |

Wow...look what I missed while I was at work! First off, I know that many people on this board are really passionate about their beliefs when it comes to police. I am as well. I've met with many cops over the years and I have to say that most are really out there doing their job. Sure some of them abuse their powers to get through a red lights or speed for no reason. Power corrupts the weak. I've have a few speeding tickets and I've always been kind and polite to the officers who've pulled me over. I knew that I had done wrong and there was no reason to be a jerk about it. I even passed an officer hiding in his cruiser behind a bush up near Mosport just waiting for a guy like me. As soon as I saw him pull out behind me I pulled over. There was no reason to make him chase me. He appreciated that and dropped a 40 over ticket to a 15 over ticket on the spot. He also told me that I should take it to court anyways.
It's things like that that make you realize that all anyone wants is a little respect. Nobody is going to get a straight answer out of our cop buddies on this board if you call them pigs or whatever. I have however been treated like a criminal on several occasions by the boys in blue. Because of that I do not respect the police force as a whole. They are essentially a publicly funded gang who always look out for their own. Their access to illegal weapons and drugs give the weak minded and financially strapped officers an easy way to make some extra cash. I went to school with a guy who sold drugs exclusively obtained through a 'source' within the peel police. Besides that it seem like gldwngr is a good guy. As long as the insults stop I'm sure he could have something constructive to say. |

Thats original, what mommy and daddy weren't around to write a decent and coherent response for you so you resorted to a simpleton's statement? Also read my previous post and I state my background is Canadian. I was going out to meets while you were still riding your BMX there sunshine. And the reason I'm on this board is because threads like this give me a laugh when I have 10 minutes to kill. As well as the fact that the for sale and tech threads are invaluable resources. |
