insurance problem?

i was in an at fault accident may 2006. i had no insurance at the time so it was my dads that went up. i got a ticket for following to close, but won, so it was dropped. i was wondering, if i go apply for insurance on a car, would they know about the accident? i heard that since they used my dads insurance to cover the accident, i can say that i have had no accidents. so when they check my records it'll show no accidents cuz it was under my dads name.

is that true?

It's two different things. Owner of the car is your dad. Driver is you. As you already went to court, they have you on record.
