2002-03 Volkswagen Jetta TDI, price worth it?

Hey guys, I'm looking into a 2002-04 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with 250,000km for 3000-4000 dollars. A buddy's dad is hooking it up since he owns/works (not sure which) at a Volkswagen dealership. First of all, is it worth it? And second, what would I be looking out for in order to save me future troubles?! Thanks a lot guys.

As long as the car is in good shape, the fairly high km isnt really an issue, since these beats can usually hit 500k no problem. So if everything is in good shape I'd say its not a bad deal

What he said ^^. If you do buy it, change the timing belt and water pump right away. You never know when the last time it was done but its better safe then sorry.

Agree.

And check the wiring for the rear lights, the mk4 models have a defect. If it hasn't already been fixed.
