just with a toggle switch unless you go with hp tuners like i did. it gives you a ton of cool features, when my car was turned off if it was over a certain temp the fan would stay on as an example of one. its pretty sweet, gives you full control like a standalone would but with no wiring crap, plus it self tunes if youhave a wideband and then you can fine tune from there.

to bypass the speedo you just hook up the vehilkce speed sensor to a toggle switch. and bye bye its gone when you flick it off

2mint, consider the intake mine, ill get it from you this weekend, do you have msn? add me, turbocav@hotmail.com and we'll arrange a place and time thats good for you

also the motor lived for 7500 km, had a good tune to it but when the oil pump was taken apart the engine builders who did so said it wasnt assembled properly and it starved the motor of oil. had it been a detonation issue the knock sensor would have pulled timing right away, the knock sensor in these cars is fairly sensitive and reacts to a lean condition very quickly.

oh well, life goes on

well, in all honesty, just talking from my experience building honda engines, not taking a stab or anything like that (I know i'm not known really on this board), but if the oil pump was assembled wrong I think you would also be likely to spin a bunch of bearings and chew the crank up or damage the cams/rockers from oil starvation.
I've seen pistons with rings melted into them from severly overheating an engine and from severe detonation in high compression n/a engines caused by overly advanced ignition timing....not just a lean condition, you could be rich as hell and still detonating, you can't always just dump fuel in to cure detonation.
I'm interested to learn more about HPtuners, as I've only ever tuned hondas/acuras. I know Mel at tag uses HPtuners, but he's said to me many times (while I was there tuning with Neptune) how lucky I am to have a software as good and with as many features as we do for hondas, without having to go full-standalone.
Again, i'm not gettin on you by any means, just simply saying that its possible that more than just a faulty oil pump caused the damage to your engine.

hey man any input is appreciated. im passing along with the builders who tore the motor down said to me. i know the car wasnt detonating or it would have pulled timing. we had a very safe tune on the car with meth on top of it. pre tune the few times the car went lean it pulled timing right away. like i said the knock sensor is very sensitive on these cars and works quite well. but thats all in thepast

im happy that with the stang ive got more options than i did with the cav. hell even the hondas like you said have so many good choices to go with. im hoping to put a blower on her this year and if that happens then ill be going up to dasilva for a tune. they dyno tune the car and burn a chip and price is pretty good too.

hptuners is great though. it gives you full control like a standalone would without having to do any wiring crap and its fairly simple to use aswell. great piece of technology and cheap too. i think the program is about 650 bucks and then 100 for credits for any additional car you wanna tune.

the only thing I don't like about HPtuners (from what i've seen) is its lack of real-time programming and map tracing. Meaning, everytime you make a change you have to turn the car off, load up the program into the ecu, start the car back up and continue like that. Without map tracing, where you need to make the changes could be a guessing game and would definately be harder to make the apropriate adjustments without knowing which cell the ecu is currently taking the info from. Not bashing HPtuners here, as i've never personally used it to tune a car, but i've wathced Mel use it on cars and it seems pretty basic compared to whats available for other cars.....but hey, at least theres something available.

I'm just interested in getting involved in tuning more than just hondas, so i'm trying to get feedback about the other programs available for other cars....so I appreciate your feedback.

I've talked to mel about how the whole credit thing works, so i'm hip to that game, and even Neptune has a license fee I must collect per car, similar to the whole credit thing.

What would you be using on the stang?

Dreamcaster street rep is low. keep going
it happens

personally i would not tinker with the speed limiter

its there for a reason

you have no reason to be going faster than the posted speed limit

good luck
