Testing out my newest toy. Didnt come out too bad I dont think for being a first try. Took some tacking, pounding, tacking, pounding. The BFH and the MIG are my two best friends now.
69z, can you get me a pic of your brakes? Especially the ebrake cables and their routing? I'm likely going with 93-97 rear disc on this POS.

I took welding class the past 2 years. Heres a little Trick. We use the 1-10 heat and speed types... you have the A-E Heat type..
Next time you try welding something. Select the heat you want and for wire speed it should be like this..
A=1,2
B=3,4
C=5,6
D=7,8
E=9,10
Your Just tacking.. So it doesnt make much of a deal.. But when go to make a Real Bead you'll want to have it Set right on..
Oh yea, Hope you got a Auto Darkning hood. If you dont.... you better get one! They are well worth it!

When I was actually welding it was set at B and 3. Fabricated a cart for it too and a holder for the gas tank. The helmet is an auto dark. It's cheap but it works well.

It lives! Yesterday it moved under its own power for teh first time in months. And damn it sounds good running open headers. Right now I'm waiting on a Summit order for the new 4.10 ring & pinion and new mufflers and 3" u-bends to make the new exhaust.
The previous exhaust was 3 to 2.5" reducer reduced to 2" pipe, 2" mufflers and 2.5" tailpipe. Now it's 3" pipe to the the 3" x-pipe to the 3" cutouts and a reducer to 2.5" mufflers and the 2.5" tailpipe. The way the old setup was hacked together I wouldnt be surprised if there was a healthy gain in power and sound.
I powdercoated all the trim flat black too... **** chrome!!! Now I just need to flat black the door handles and keyholes.
Here's a video at idle, the camera doesnt do it justice. I'm taking it for a drive tonight.. think I'll get an exhaust ticket?? muhahahaa

Did some exhaust work today. The new setup is 1-5/8 primary headers with 3" collectors, 3" x-pipe, 3" cutouts, 2.5" chambered mufflers and 2.5" tailpipes. The old setup sucked, same headers, reduced to 2" pipe and 2" turbo mufflers flared up to 2.5" tailpipes.
I had to make some creative use of the BFH to make it all fit well and keep decent ground clearance.
