*USED* 4.10 / 3.23's

Both used.

Both in good condition. The 3.23's are the stock gear from my car. (7.5, 23 spline) and the 4.10's were run for about 2,000 miles, and near new condition. Both are for a GM 7.5 rear end. Send me a PM with any offers, (Keep in mind, shipping will cost $17.00 or so, depending on the zip)

The 4.10's were richmonds, retail for $225

go with 3.73s. they are better for an auto. 4.10s are great for 6 speed, 3.73s for a 4 speed auto.

What does it cost to get gears installed these days? Just a rough guestimate would be nice.

1-2hr labor. It takes me 45 minutes, but I also do a whole bearing kit when I do it.

Hmm, Ill have to think about it then, I would like some different gears, 3.08's suck, but I do alot of highway driving, roughly 30minutes each day. Is 3.23's what Im looking for? Or would I not notice a difference?

no, not really at all. I wouldnt go anything lower than 3.42s from 3.08s.

I paid like 330 for my install with my posi as well... and that was a friend I knew, so I could only imagine a shop.

He raped you.

The carrier (posi) has to come out to do the gears anyway. Unless that 330 is added to the 120 retail for a new bearing kit.. thats retarded. It takes an hour, maybe an hour and a half to the unexperienced. At my shop we work cheap ($45 per hour) but still.

Hell, since im putting in 3.73's so I can take it to out of town shows, im debating just swapping in the 4.10's when im ready for track use.

Now, also, I would not recommend putting in a carrier or ring and pinion set if you've never done it before. I'd at least have a person around that has.

Yes new bearing kit and such also.. which was 80 or 90 of the cost.

And I highly doubt it would take me (the unexperienced) an hour and a half to do

Nah. The carrier makes no difference, open or posi. All you have to do is take off the wheels, open up the diffy, drain the fluid, unbolt the carrier, pull out the axles, take off the yolk, swap in the new ring and pinion, put the new bearings in, and bolt it all back together. 1 hr job regardless.
