Do you want a lot of low end tq or a high revving high end hp?
Personally like I said I'd take the 454 but it's all up to you. I know it's a truck engine but if you're going to work on it you can change a lot of it's charistics(sp). I think of the LS1 engine, there's truck and car versions but people buy the 6.0L truck block and put it in their FBodies and make some real hp.

change teh heads, the truck heads have teeny ports, the truck block is a good choice (it's supposed to be stronger)

big block would be cool. and yes the power is awesome. no doubt about it. but big blocks only get to like 5 grand of coarse depending on how its built. how high can u get the 327 to now when u stand on it? i know my dad can get his to about 7 grand and his is pretty mild. not very wild at all and when people here 7 grand they are like ****! you can build it even stronger to make around 9 grand. now idc who you are nothing sounds cooler than a small block chevy pulling 9,000 rpm ripping down the street. but of coarse the big block will pull your head to the seat like none other.

there's a guy on nastyz28 who's shift point is 8 grand on his 454, but that means little if max power is made at say 4000 rpm, high revs don't mean a whole lot if you gear correctly (which is why I laugh at everyone who throws a set of gears at a car with no regard to what rpm they need to run)500 hp is always nicer to have than 300 (the high reve argument is what teh ricers use by the way)a 327 can be built to make a great powerband, but no where near the power of a big block

really the truck engines need cam and heads and they run great, you will want subframe connectors no matter what (I've looked at a few factory big block cars where the door gaps were uneven from the body twist)

yeah, but think about the feeling of real power, not to mention heads are an easy swap with the engine in teh car, use the stockers until you have a couple grand for good ones, maybe have the stockers ported a bit

In the end it's up to you but I'm just in love with big blocks so my opinon might be bias.
