Electrical Fire!!!!

haha scared you. there wasnt a flame...but i smelled that burnt smell when i got outta my car this morning. i looked under the hood and there was faint smoke coming from around the throttle body area and above the plenum. now before i left my sis said it smelled like gas. this indicates either the smoke was coming from the coils and their fried and cant burn off the mixture completely...or the more logical reason that a fuel injector wire had shorted out and had caused the fuel injector to stay open hence my rich mixture...cuz i didnt feel any difference in performance.

any thoughts?

hard to say for sure without a tear down, but the fuel injector makes the most sense because it wasn't that long ago you had the intake off real easy way to cause a short

haha! oh man was i way off. well before i left for school i looked under the car and there was fluid under the transmission...i thought it was tranny fluid and i had burned the transmission up or something. i got in and it drove and shifted fine. so i was confused. i got to school and after 2nd period i put my car on the hoist during break and saw no tranny fluid, but oil all over everything...including the exhaust. thats where the smoke came from. i looked around and realized...i readjusted the rocker arms last week and reused the gasket cuz it was in good shape...however i didnt clean the mating surface so its probably leaking because of that. so saturday i can fix it.

yeah first mistake. it was barely used for 2 weeks but i guess it doesnt matter...then second mistake was not cleaning the mating surface.

dam. i changed the valve cover gaskets and its still leaking. if i over-torqued them could the valve covers be tweaked and thats causing them to leak?

Good god man....don't you have a manual? Read it if you do. All those bolts have certain specs that need to be met. Just follow along it's easy.
