its really not hard rebuilding an auto trans. just get a big stick and as you take stuff out put it on the stick. cant go wrong there. shouldnt take more than 3 days to take it out, rebuild it, then put it back in if youre a noob.

well if the car was crashed assume that the trans was working b/c idk how many cars with broken trannys get totaled

No but you can always play worse-case scenario and someone wrecked a car with a tranny that is going bad- Grant is right, its hard to guarantee that a trans is ok without either tearing it down or putting it in and driving on it.
