then you never saw one get rear ended (I have seen 2 at auction that the owner walked away from) I see many cars that get hit that the driver never got hurt, but teh rear axle is against the seats, they are designed to do that (that's why it's called a crush point)

I know they are designed to do that, but I dont see how the thin aluminum of the floor would penetrate the fuel tank, or how a hole in the floor will aid this to happen.

And yes, I have seen and fixed many rearended F bodies

I never saw an aluminum one, you are taking a structural part making it easier to bend by cutting a very large hole in it, not to mention the spark issue, but if you know more than the guys who designed the car and say never do that then ok

I see both sides- one side says yeah, don't weaken the chassis for what can happen- the other side says if you are in an accident that the stress reaches the middle of the car- you're going to be replacing the fuel tank regardless- if at all since its goin to totalled either way.

that roof hoop can be cut from the car, if it was a true support they wouldn't havea convertable (I know they add bracing to the convertables but it is the same body) that's why there were no factory convertables in the second and third gens, the floor is always structure that's why it has the ripples and such (cut your floor out and see how your doors close you gaps all go bad) I have cut up and rebuilt more cars than probably anyone here has driven (somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 cars rebuilt from totals)

yeas but the gauge to the sides of the middle isa accualy higher guage i mean in stock form you can push the thing up and down....... 100's of people have done this and not one has had any problems

I have seen tehm burnt and the insurance company always claims from that mod (and won't pay the claim since it was a modification) why not pull the tank it's not really that hard to do if you have some basic mechanical ability

that there fault for not checking with the insurace, allstate don't care how you mod really...... i just pay like $5 for $10,000 in extra coverage

lol I would say more like 1,000's with no problems My friends car is a autocross car and we did his over a year ago and its a full time race car with 17x11's with 315 all the way around with no problems and that car goes threw more stress the any car on this site! So if that little thing piece of factory sheet metal was that big of a deal I'm guessing his car would of fell apart according to what people are saying Oh well and this car dose not have a roll bar

does he have a cage? If not then it's not an autocross car it's a street car used for light autocross (most real racing sanctioning bodies want a cage, which sifgnificantly strengthens a chasis) and it still doesn't take away the fact you are spraying sparks on your fuel tank, that is the dumbest thing you can do working on a car, just becsause a few do it with no issues does not mean you will, if your low on gas, and have a leak on top it theoretically can explode, and can easily start on fire (GM shops are required to pull the gas tank before doing any floor repairs above including cutting or even drilling)
