hood shipping?

Next time try Greyhound. I got some parts- i.e. 2 sets G/E, CME system shipped in a mini crate for around $250. That was from Michigan to NY. I didn't think that was too bad for all the stuff since there was some added weight with the exhaust and mini crate.

Places that sell alot of big parts usually get reduced shipping rates, and like Arch said, the shipping is including in the price somewhat..
Regardless how you receive the hood- make absolutely sure you check the hood top, bottom, sides, under, edges, corners- every inch of it. If you don't check it when you receive it you basically own it. If you bring out all damage before you sign for it you will be more likely to get either a refund or some other kind or monetary help. I know of many people who went thru 3 cracked hoods before one arrived that was in good shape.

If you want your hood to fit and not pay a shop another $500 to make it fit you'll pay the premium price. The quality of a hood is directly proportional to the price. You pay $350 for a hood- and it will fit like crap- I will guarantee it, there are a lot of members here who will back me up on this too.
PS- you're not going to find an SS hood at a junkyard-If you want a hood, but a brand-new one thats quality. Either that or surf the forums for someone near you selling one. If you get lucky you'll find one local that you can just take a short roadie and pick it up.

Force Fed pretty much said it all. How much you pay is what you get. Buy it new, or buy it local. Used is very chancy, and you might as well get it new if you want it shipped.
My hood was the first one ever made, cost me about 1k shipped. Its up to 1.5k shipped now lol.

The other thing is try and see the fit of the hood before you buy one used. I'm extremely particular and even though my hood fits decent, its still not good enough for me. Everyone's definition of 'great fit' is different. I have seen many people post pics of their hoods bragging about how well it fits and I can tell from the pics how much it doesn't match the car.
If you can tell from a picture taken 15 ft away how terrible the hood fits I would hate to see it in person. I think a car looks 5x worse with an ill-fitting hood aftermarket hood than with a stock hood, but thats just my opinion-

Not just the gaps- but all the curves as well- for some reason it seems as though the 4th gen hood is hard to get right- typically there isn't enough curve from front to back- also the rear points are commonly sitting too high. Guess I don't see whats so hard about making a hood fit correctly?

Because every car isnt exactly the same Forcefed. I know personally mine is off quite a bit, which is one reason my hood doesnt fit perfect. But I agree, they COULD do a better job.

I know every car isn't the same, it just seems as though there are some hoods out there that people buy- they slap them on their car and think they look good. Sad part is even Ray could tell it looks like crap from 20 ft. away...
