Right now i have a vinyl top and water has gotten under it and caused the roof to rast out around the front and back window. Its not real real bad but i want to take off the vinyl top and leave it off, so i figured it would look the best if i replaced the panel.

why do you wanna take the vinyl off? IMO if you can fix all the rust and everything, then put a new one on, and if you keep your car yellow like in the pic, i think it would be too much.but idk. just what i think. got ne more pics or info on your car?

you don't have to replace the top for that, use por 15, or zero rust, a grinder (for the nubs for the trim) a bit of filler (skim coat it) k200 type primer (super high build aka sprayable bondo)sand the hell out of it some regular primer surfacer sand the hell out of it, seal and paint

yea, i got a some more pics. At the time that picture was taken it had a 396, bored .030 over, .585 lift solid erson cam, keith black 10.5:1 pistons, cast iron closed chamber heads with 2.19/1.88 valves, stock crank and rods, crane roller rockers, holley strip dominator intake, 830 double pumper, and a saginaw 4sp with the stock 10 bolt out back. Its not gonna be yellow ne more. I stripped it down to bare metal because it had 4 paint jobs on it. Plus the way i want to paint it wouldnt look right with the vinyl top.

actually the 830 worked rather well on it. i tried a 650 first but it fell on its face at about 4500RPM. The best one i had on it was a 750 double pumper, and im workin on the more pics. thing.
