VRE 1970 Camaro 427 LS1 Project
It ‘s hard to believe, but our portion of project 1970 Camaro LS1 Swap is complete. The engine will soon be off to another shop where a PTE-88 turbo will be strapped to the front. Here is a brief wrap up and specs on the project.
The Darton MID Sleeved 427 was acquired from Steve at Race Engine Development.
The customer opted to spare no expense and we installed a Callies Race Master 4.000” Forged Crankshaft, Howard Specialties 6.125” Connecting Rods, and Custom Diamond Pistons.
We had the rotating assembly, and windage tray Teflon coated by our good friends at DART Machinery.
After we received all the items back from coating we began the installation process. At this time the customer decided to go for the show car look and have the oil pan, front cover, and rear cover powder coated glossy black. As always Bill at QC Coatings was up to the job, and everything came out excellent.
We topped this stout short block with ET Performance 255cc 11 degree cylinder heads, Morel hydraulic lifters, Comp Cams Pro Magnum Rockers, and a ported Edelbrock Carb Style Manifold.
Future plans include Accufab 105mm Elbow, Wilson 105mm throttle body, and Big Stuff 3 Unit.
More pictures can be seen in our customer gallery.
