Ok...
That's probably the only thing the Cavalier has going for it. Sit in both cars, drive both cars, and then try and argue that the Cavalier is still comparable. I'm not a huge Honda fan, but I know that the Civic is a better built and better engineered car. The Cavalier feels cheap, looks cheap, and drives like a cheap car would. The Civic is more solid, uses better materials, is assembled better, and the over-all design is decades ahead of the Cavalier (literally).

YellowCav: How much do you think you will have spent on your j-body when all is said and one and its running 12's? Im just curious and not trying to say its a waste of money (b/c modding any car is, basically).

a 95-99 like mine will cost more because you need to do a tranny swap. you use an 03+ withthe ecotec and the getrag and you can hit 12's on the stock motor and tranny. you throw in a clutch, flywheel, a nice turbo setup, a little tuning, and a good tire and you have a 13.0 or better combo with a good driver. those ecotec cavys have run 15.0 stock on stock tires. theyre much quicker than the old twincam cars. also the ecotec is a beast of a motor. my problem is i got stuck with an isuzu tranny which is brittle so i had to upgrade to an nvg which is basically the toughest thing ill find short of building one.

but really, money wise, if your smart and can source out parts and what not, you can build a very nice turbo setup with fuel system for about 3500, clutch and flywheel another 900, then youtune, so far hp tuners is the way to go. you can buy the program for about 600 or you can buy credits for 100 from someone who has it and use their laptop to tune your car. alot of people get away with just an fmu but its a hack way to go if you want to get any power. so for lets say about 5500 with the price of tires you can run an ecotect cavy from the mid 13 second range to the high 12 second range.

everyone needs to know. it IS harder to find parts for j-bodies vs. honda's. j-bodies are capable of decent numbers if the right work has been done, do research. j-body.org is a great community with no bashing, only helpful people. heres a list of best times for j-body owners.

You must be kiddin. Civic is more solid????? OMG its a pop can with wheels. A friend of mine had dents all over it from a tree dropping pine cones on it. They are like 2200 lbs you call that solid???? Its a sub compact car, its a car to get around in for next to nothing, its for tight asses, penny pinchers, please stop talking about a fwd sub compact car with no frame and recycled pop cans for a body as if it was some sports car. Just put in a liter of oil every week and go drop off those pizzas for pizza pizza. Thats all its good for!!! dumb ***

You fail... The Cavalier pinches pennies in every area possible. Unless you buy a Z24 or Sunfire GT it comes with Rear Trailing arm suspension; yet even the lowest model Civic comes with 4 wheel independent suspension. Well I hate to break it to you but the 2.4 Dohc is a piece of (fact) I've never seen head work done on a civic before 100 thousand. The reliability of a cavalier is questionable. I Love doing head gaskets

lollll! Your a tool dude! You mean the 2.2 ohv motor has shitty heads, not the 2.4! The 2.4 has good heads, but a-ok, bottom end all you gotta do with the bottom end is upgrade your oil pump and there ya go! You gotta decent motor!! Hell the only way you would catch me driving a honda is as a daily driver & nothing else! Everyone has done or built a civic and the whole civic scene has gotten boring! So do yourself a favour before posting, know your stuff THEN post! Till then VTEC YO!
