as for the $6000. that car will run in the 10's if you lighten the car

if u can buy a grand national for cheaper (decent and running), let me know cuz ill buy it right this second, im not gonna argue a grand nat, they are nice cars, espescially for the time period. as for fox body yes i agree they are well known for bang for $$, if you can get any of these cars to turn a corner at any respectable speed, let me know

and i never said that it was the "best" bang for $$ but it is very cheap if you do your research

btw im not a pure honda guy, i like any car, the reason im into hondas right now is because they are incredibly easy to research, find parts for, and at an overall low price can be respectfully fast (straight line and cornering)

come summer 2008 im getting into an s13 and dropping in a sr20 blacktop

so for 2200 you baught a car, an ls motor tranny fuel system whatever youused for the computer agood set of tires and a turbo system. you have to tel lme where you buy your parts from, my turbo kit cost 3500 to build. 560 for the turbo, 400 for the fmic, 350 for the manifold, 100 for the fmu, i aquired a set of ford injectors for it ubt the new mustang ones i have were 240 u.s. then ou add in the 400 for charge piping, 400 for exhsaust and thats because i braught in 3 inchstainless to the guys, t clamps, silicone couplers, etc etc etc it all added up very fast. id love to know where your finding parts from because i could use some

also how long did the ls motor live at 18 pounds?

also my buddy chris had a fox body road race stang, thing handled very well. it can be done, just alot of peole choose not to do it.

props if you did infact build a car that ran 12.0 for 2200 bucks including the purchase price. any pics of tihs thing?

i had a gutted car years ago to. then i discovered that with boost i can still run my interior and be fast, exjoy quiet rides on the hiway and still carry passangers if need be, lol. just pesonal preference. im all about weight reduction ubt theres a point where it gets ridiculous. you see guys at the track in a one seater one dashboard car dropping a few tenths and loving it, and then going home and having a slow car once the interior goes in. kinda like borrowing a nitrous kit and using it at the track and then giving it back when your done. its different if thats how you daily drive the car though

the car lasted all summer actually, the funny story is that it did finally let go. The only reson it did let go is because someone put esso 91octane and we fully tuned the car for pioneer 93 (when they still had it) also had a seperate alcohol injector for higher boost

the car $100
turbo 150 (actually off a grand nat...ironic)
turbo manifold: freebie (fabbed)
fuel pump 400
injectors 200 (used)
ls engine 300
intercooler and piping 500
fmu 450(if i can remember)
ignition 200

fooled a lot of people that year

by fmu you must mean something conputer controled, your basic rising rate boost dependant fuel pressure regulator can be had for 100 bucks. thats not too bad then. chances are at 18 pounds somehting would have let go sooner or later. this is a case like with alot of cars, you sometimes get lucky and have one live above and beyond what its supposed to live at while the other 95% of the guys who try the same combo wont be as lucky

^ ya it was computerized fuel management, it was a very long tuning process and if we hadn't have put the 91 in it, it would have ran A LOT longer

wll the day we were running it at the track we changed the set up throughout the day i think on decent street tires and full interior it ran in the mid to low 13's, ya stock axles so we cudn't launch as hard as we wanted to, it was scary when we put the slicks on, thought for sure we were gonna snap one but she held together pretty well, don't get me wrong the thing looked like a piece of garbage, it jus works wonders when u can do things urself like the guy who was mainly doing all the tuning was a damn genius when it came to that motor, to this day he won't tell me some of his secrets, that car was built back in 2001 or 2002 (it's been awhile)

(engine must have been built on a wednesday or something)

right on, tuning can do alot man. alot of people dont get just how much power a good tune will give them without changing anything other than whats inside the somputers brain. so im guessing you guys were running a late 80's stle hatch?
