Thats why Shep can't keep up with the Supras and Mustangs in his class . Shep doesn't even have the fastest DSM for that matter, it belongs to Brent Rau and runs high 6's
Don't get me wrong, I'm a diehard DSMer, but a properly set-up V8 will make way more power than any 4 banger will. And you just can't match the sound of a mean V8

Brent Rau's talon is an all out track car. Shepard's talon is a 7s street talon, big difference. Shepard's talon on the street will probably beat those v8's. Street means street legal, towing your car around the city and racing it with huge as slicks isn't really street. I'm not saying shepard is running 7s on his street trim but I know with help from his tranny, awd, and big hp he's one dangerous street racer.

there are lots of 6 and 7 second mustangss that are "street cars" watch the door slammers race, they make them go on a half hour tour through the city before the races start. those cars have working lights and all the other goodies but are by no means street driven on a daily basis. hell in my area there are a few 9 second street cars that get driven almost daily, once you get too much faster than that your getting into a vehicle thats hard to control.
awd with enough power to run 7's wont do you much good, itll spin the tires no matter what, ask dsmonster what a little bit of power and awd does, still takes some finessful driving when playing on the street.

The point is when Shepherd's talon ran 7s all he had to do is make a few changes and he can drive it home unlike brent's talon which is all out track only. Brent's talon was never a street talon and John shepherd i believe owns the reputation as the fastest street talon.

Civics are the budget racers car. They can be made fast on the street but seriously to me its still a fast pos. I own 3 civics i respect them and all but to me its still sucks and a pos but its one of the best cars in its class. They came with double wishbone suspension in a cheap car. Its something u beat on it and if u crash u buy a bimmer. The annoying gutted rattling loud interior gets to u when your just cruising. Its good for 300hp class and will probably win but will just get slower and slower when u move to 500-600 class or anything higher. If i have the money a boosted M3 or MK4 Supra is next. Its still a civic is true and its not the best but for the street its still quick. 0.02

in its class, i would say the civic is pretty good car. you made this thread to try and prove a point. youve failed.

+1 for the civic and everything jake stated. They are great cars but its' a shame that so many people destroy them with godawful wings/spoilers, body kits, paintjobs, coffee cans and underlighting Why can't people be subtle, if you didn't like the way your car looked then why did you buy it in the first place. I guess different strokes for different folks.

above average build quality? try again.. well engineered suspention? you must be talking years back because my buddy that works at classic honda was just commenting on how they looked like they fell of a GM assembly line. Mostly due to the fact that they apperantly use a mac pearson type suspention.
