Which i better 2004 Dodge SRT-4 or 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged

ok here is the thing i wanna get a daily everyday car to screw around with after i sell the jetta. the cobra will be track car mostly btw so i dun wanna rake to many kms on her. But back to the point. i was lookin at either the 2004 Srt4 or the cobalt ss supercharged 2006

now the srt4 is 18,000
ss is 23,400

srt4 does 1/4mile in 13.9 while cobalt ss in 14.4 these are stock cars with stock times.

Now performance n comfort wise which do u guys recommend. I personaly so far like the srt4. Seems like a awesome bang for the buck and with mopar parts could easily become a beast. But the cobalts interior seems nicer and classier opposed to the plastic neons interior the srt4 has.

Any ideas, opinions n help would be appreciated. Im in no rush to make a purchase yet juss thinkin bout it but come june i want one of the two so help me decide to make the right choice.

ive got friends with both. the srt 4 is cheap to mod and make go fast but in the end its a turbo dodge. my buddy just sold his and he said it was starting to get typical cheaply made dodge noises and problems. but the car was quick, stopped ok and handled ok. another friend of mine has the blown ss. car handles really good, turns nicely but out of the box isnt that fast and with that blower your limited to what you can do. personally i prefer the interior on the ss but the srt4 also comes with a nice set of seats but the same cheap looking neon dash and such. what it comes down to is do you want a 2 door or 4 door car. with the lower theres no bullshit, you turn the key and drive, get ot where your going turn it off and walk away. with the turbo, well you know the routine. if its a small turbo car you want wait for gm to bring out the new cobalt, turbocharged, 260 hp 2 liter. itll be the fastest fwd sport compact on the market and being turbocharged youll be able to make some good power from it unlike from the blower.

if i had to choose id go cobalt ss. and id rip the wing off as so many others have done

ive driven both of them in stock form and the cobalt is definatly a much better paltform. its only downfall is the blower. but its a more rigid and stable chassis

Mopar FTW!

You can get stupid gains with the Mopar Performance parts they have for the SRT-4s. My buddy has one and that thing has me thinking about saving up for a SRT-4. But i'll never leave the original pocket rockets that Dodge and Carroll Shelby created. The order turbo dodge's are nothing but a sleeper. Hardly anyone knows Dodge is the #1 auto maker to produce factory turbocharged engines. Go with who has the experience in them. you we find more SRT-4 guys to help im sure.

You don't buy a factory street car for gas mileage. They gas mileage is not that bad either. Remember 98% of my friends have build nothing but turbo dodges(*clue* read above where Rick posted something about my name). Is a SRT-4 going to get gas mileage like a Civic? NO Is a civic ever going to be anything more then a gas sipping civic? Nope. Get the SRT-4 you will not regret it:thumbsup:

I own an sc'ed superslowbalt. The car is great, she does 10L/100km city driving with a boot here and there. I personally hate the damn seats in the car and soon will change mine at least.
The suspension is ok... it could be a bit stiffer but thats my prefrence, the car does have a terrible terrible turning radius. I can turn my buddys dodge ran sharper then i can turn the slowbalt.

Now as for the neon I was thinking about getting one but, what scares me is that they catch on fire and burn to the ground. (radio wires were ****ed up from factory on one then more occation and people have lost their cars cause of it [if you dont belive look it up])

If you want to make stupid power go neon if you want a good cruiser and dailybeater you can beat on the track once in a while get the cobalt.

again if you want a fast daily driver wat for the turbo cobalt to com e out. the 2 liter is a far better motor than dodges 2.4 liter and its already making more power. plus you have a better platform to start from, stiffer chassis as the srt4 is a bit wavey and a much nicer car. either way whatever you choose your first mod will have to be removing the giant win of either car, lol

or you could look into getting an older TD.

One example...
1991-1992 Spirit R/T 2.2 DOHC 16V Turbo Intercooled 224HP

srt4 motor was designed to hold a shitload of power while the ss motor was not without having to be rebuilt. Depends what you're looking for. If all you are about is performance, then srt-4, but if you want to be able to stop in the local ricer lot (e.g. tim hortons) and have your ***** rubbed by other ricers, then the cobalt ss. The cobalt is a much nicer looking car IMO , although some people really like the look of the srt4.

pretty sure he watns a newer car possibly with a wrranty, not an old turbo dodge thats plagued with problems and has more than likely had the kicked out of it.

It's all in where you buy it from. My buddy Jackson has several clean R/Ts(Spirit's and Daytona's). Warranties are good to have, can't agrue about that. But What performance add on's void it? I havn't looked into getting a new street car so I havn't done the research...
