So.. You gotta drive 240 kms each day commuting to work....
My question to you... The TSR community is... Help me find a daily commuter that wont let me down... I recently got a nice pay raise, and My company is expanding and moving to near markham. My question is, if you had to choose a very gas efficient car, but something that has some power, still fun to drive, and to mod up... I already have a tricked out mx3... that has the j-spec swap and she guzzles gas, so daily driving her is out of the question... I need a good reliable car, that isn't going to cost me much... My budget is Max of 10-15 grand ideally... If it's something I can finance, even better....
I test drove a mazda 3... Fantastic ride... Good price @ 17 grand brand new... But with my parents consult and me only being 20... The insurance on two cars that are both expensive would just kil me in the end.. not really worth it...
SO!!!! My question, What do I do? Buy a EK civic and b18c5 it?? Or buy a new car?? Or what? I need suggestions, I need to get at least 600k+ to the tank, if this is possible, of course on daily commutes I wont be raping the car
YOUR OPINION IS VALUED, AND I THANK YOU ALL
:thumbsup

I saw that commercial that Saturn had out for one of their car that supposedly gets 30city MPG and it's probably the ecotec engine cause they said it was 140 HP.
If you want more oomph then that..
Impala with 3.4L
They were rated best efficient full size sedan.. so you know you'll have oomph and MPG..
EDIT: Wow.. I thought I had it bad to and from work I"m roughly bout 140 KM both ways per day..

T D I all the way.... chip it, exhaust... if u want throw in some lowering springs and some bigger rims/tires, and u'll have fun, comfortable daily driver that get's u approx. 1000 km's per tank.
Can't beat that...

with a budget of 10-15 grand, why don't you just buy a decent used car? like a civic or something? it'll give you great gas milege and if you don't care about how it looks or performs (just a daily driver) than what does it matter? besides, you have a modified 2nd car anyways, so why waste any more money on modding your daily driver? just save that money and put it towards your 2nd car. also, insurance for a civic would be one of the lowest, just make sure you don't get a SIR or whatever, just get the base base model and you'll be fine

"also, insurance for a civic would be one of the lowest"
Insurance is expensive on Civics no matter what model they are, so I'd advise against them simply due to their insurance rate. Cast my vote in for the TDI as well..

for me.. for 2 cars... both older then 1990 they wanted over 7grand..
if u can.. why not move up there 240 is alot for work... the money you would save in gas alone over a year is a decent chuck.

What company makes chip/exhaust for a 2000 Jetta TDI?
