So yeah... a customer calls in:

Me: "Thank you for calling Cingular, how may I help you?"

Her:" Well, I originally started in your store and ended up across the street, but I only have your number."

"Oh, ok. Do you want their number then?"

"Well, maybe you can help me since I started there."

"Sure, what's up? What's the issue?"

"Well, fine if you don't want to help, I'll get the number myself and call across the street."

*Click*

Customer: Hi Im calling because I need to bring my computer in
Me: okay..
Customer: To geek squad.
Me: okay..
....
Me: Did you have a question?
Customer: Well its running really slow
Me: yeah you would probably want to bring that in then..
Customer: yeah.. Well probably not today, but tomorrow after I take my son to the doctor.
Me: Okay.. sounds good.

I still havent figured out the point to that converstaion yet..

Then I had a guy come in yesterday

Me: What can I do for you?
Him: I dont know
Me: Ok.. Well, whats wrong with it?
Him: Dont really know.
I find a note on it saying it needs a video card (wife wears the pants)
Me: Okay, well do you know what size video card youre looking for?
Him: no,
Me: okay... well you should figure out what size youre going to need..are you going to be using it for, gaming or what?
Him: we just called a tech line and they said we needed a video card since it just shows a black screen.
Me: Well lets turn it on and see whats going on first.

I turn it on and the hard drive clicks... freezes at bios

Me: You dont need a video card.. you have a bad hard drive in this system

Shows you how good support lines are! But christ, for s sake... I hate when people send in other people that have NO idea what they need... stupidest ****** idea ever, and makes **** so much harder.

One of my favorites is when a parent calls us because THEIR 12 yr old son won't go to bed and won't listen to them- so they call us to go to their house and tell their kids that its time for bed. For some reason people think that we are not only police officers, but we also like to come over and play parents for their spoiled little kids.

Usually when that happens it leads directly into "Maybe you should try being a parent and making your child listen to you" speech. Stupid people....

I honestly wish I was kidding.... People are so afraid of disciplining their kids these days that its starting to show in the way that they act. People are shocked when you tell them that they can spank their kids and that as long as it is done in a disciplinary action then its ok- beating your kids is not ok, there is a difference.

Another quick story-

Running radar in a local city other day to kill some time when I saw a vehicle traveling obviously way to fast. I estimated him at around 55, radar said 58. Keep in mind that it is typical city speed limit of 30 mph. When I stopped him there was a "30mph City Speed Limit" sign 30 ft in front of his truck which couldn't have been more perfect. After the usual initial conversation this is what followed...

-"You know how fast you were going?"
-"Not sure exactly, maybe around 45 or so"
-"Ok, do you know what the speed limit is in the city?"
-"No, I didn't see any signs, its my first time thru here"- He said this as he was looking directly at the speed limit sign- perfect...
-"Fair enough, what are most city speed limits around here?"
-"Um, I don't know, they range from 45 to 55" - They don't, no city street around here is that fast, they are all 30.
-"This city happens to be 30 mph- just like every other surrounding city. I don't pull someone over unless they are going at least 45mph, that sounds fair dont' you think?
-"Well...Um....yeah I guess it does..."
-"So if I told you that you were going 58 mph in a 30mph, would seem about right?"
-"I'm not certain, but I might have been going that fast..."
-"Sit tight, I'll be right with you...."

I know that people are afraid to admit to things when they are pulled over, but this guy was a total zero. He definetly didn't have too many neurons making contact upstairs for him. He got the picture that he should watch his speed after I told him that if he had been going 2mph more I could have charged him with misdemenour "Reckless Driving" and arrainged him right there and then.

Greatest thing about my job is job security. There will always be stupid people and stupid people who break the rules.

haha.. I was going 12 over once and I got pulled over (first ticket, two weeks after I got my lisensce) he asked if I knew how fast I was going, I said I wasnt sure then he whipped out how he should give me an innatentive driving ticket... what a dick. I was scared shitless as it was. I ended up getting a warning though... And I got a ticket for being out after 12
