Which to do..

Okay, so lately Ive really been thinking about looking for a Z. I love my car to death, specifically all the time money and effort Ive put into it since I got it. I love its color... But I just have an irking for more power. I still look from time to time for my 97 Z28 or SS, but probably more the Z28. I want to transfer everything from my car to the new one.

I dunno what to do... Id love to get another 97 Z, with leather and T-tops, preferably like silver or blue.. .Even better, bright green metallic if I could ever find it, so rare. But then I would almost be better off looking for my LS1, and doing my dream swap into my car. I would come close to the same price, but it would be worth the learning and fun doing it, and Id still have my original car.

Its a hard toss up... But I dunno what to do. I keep going back and fourth about selling it.

if you have the time, money and another car to drive go for the swap.

Ah, been in that spot before LOL.

Here's my personal advice. Find yourself a nice '97 Z28 and transfer everything over but only if you have the money to buy the car. I don't like buying stuff when it makes my money hard to come by.

the only reason i wouldn't do the swap is because the engine is gonna be awesome but then the body and other mechanical things would start to go bad. having an engine with 1000 miles and a body with 120000 miles just doesn't make as much sence to me than if you could find a 97 Z28

I get in the same boat as you all the time, I always have that bug bite me for more power.......I know could sell mine for a decent mileage LT1 or LS1. Just that I love my car so much and its my first car and the money gone into it I just cant seem to want to part ways with her....that and the fear of the next owner not taken care of her. I say keep what you have now save some cash and get a beater and do a swap.

Same with me, I'd much rather you keep that car you love. Save money, and when you can do a LS1 swap in it. Then again... your car is already hell when it snows..... so you'll need money for a beater.

ya know jason i felt the same way with carmen, that car was gorgeous. so you can say that, but go test drive a Z. i did and very soon after, i didnt give a ****

and justin i once wanted to do an LT1 swap on carmen. as ive said before, look what i ended up doing.

you can do just an engine and trans, but then the other stuff you dont change wont be able to support it. to truely swap to a V8, you need to change the entire powertrain and suspension. and that gets way pricey, so buy a car that has already had it done from the factory. trust me its not worth it.

if you start looking, try to pick up an LT1 TA with low mileage. seriously, ive been getting a lotta compliments for mine. since everyone has an LS1 TA theyre kinda too common. LT1 TA are almost rare now, especially clean ones like mine LS1s are mighty, but LT1s are hardly far behind. they make plenty of power and with the little bit of mods i have i can really hang with my friends LS1s no problem.

reason i say so is, for say 7000 you can get an LS1 with 120,000 miles, or an LT1 with 65,000 miles...i chose the LT1. and no offense, but i dont think you could get enough for your car to get an LS1. freakin people tack on an extra grand or two just cuz its an LS1. its rediculous.

Yeah Im not looking to trade in my car straight up... the MOST I could probably get is 5000, and thats pushing it given that most all the mods I can take off will be taken off. I would take out an initial loan, start paying for it, then sell the car.

I always just thought it would be nice to drop an LS1 into a 97 body style... but Im not exactly in the money position to do so.

I already do get lots of compliments on my car... It was weird becuase I was just talkin about this with Adric when we were drivin home, then when I stopped to get gas at like 10pm on a sunday, I walk back out to my car and some old guy was like "Is that color from the factory? looks really nice"... I cant part with the green haha... Random people always make me change my mind.

Too bad I dont have tons of money.

Id sell it and buy a lt1 Z you could transfer all your parts over and even if you cant find a green one you could allways paint it down the road if you really wanted to.

elaborate. Who has Zs in that color? I swear they have to be a hot comodity. Ive seen tons of 6s with BGM, but only like two Zs. And 97 is the only year they had that color for that body style.

If I could find one for a good price, Im about 80% sure Id find a way to get it if it was close enough.
