Well, you could fight it. Its not legal whatsoever for a cop to say its illegal without a test light.

Its not like they have to have proof. They dont bring a captured image of the radar gun if you took them to court... cops can do what they want. Around here, some of them will cut an X into your tint to let other cops know you had a warning for dark tint if you havent taken it off. They do use lights, but Ive only gotten warning... Im from WI, and I drive my car in MN so they cant do **** about my states laws ... Its a very nice advantage.

Chances are, any cop who is going to give chase will have to turn around to grab your plate number.

The reason most jurisdictions like front plates is because of laser enforcement. Lasers like reflective things. Headlamps are okay too, but license plates are nice, big unobstructed objects that like to reflect light. So they go for the plate.

I'll write a tint ticket. Typically its used for two different purposes. If the person is nice and I got them for speeding originally they might get a tint ticket instead of the speed. And here in NY with the DMV laws, you get hammered with fines if you have more than one speed ticket. But if the person is being a total ******* then guess what- both the speed and the tint. I'm not a jerk on tint mainly because my cars are tinted illegally. But if the person is obnoxious then its really easy to hit "Replicate" and print out another ticket for the tint.
