Guys just drop it!

I read through the posts and Matt and Caleb are not the ones that brought the whole V6 vs V8 thing up so don't blame them.

umm... right.

Jason and I bet that no matter what comment we left, he would bring up the v6, which happens in every SINGLE thread lately. I was proving a point, then Matt had to go into detail about the suckage of the v6. I dont really care, Im just proving my point back. Im sick of people bringing it up for no reason. It was irrelavent, and I defended my standpoint.

all i needed. a third party. thanks chad, youve just made jason and justin look like asses

and i dont think your advice was good...matts got drag radials. those should hook up nice. i think its just the track. LACR is the same. so many years and years of rubber on the start line its impossible to launch. thats why i never bother going.

also whats the elevation there in WI? if its what i think it is, youre running more of a 13.9.

seems like you guys always wait for us to talk about your sixers so you have drama and **** to laugh at. i dont give a crap if you have a 4 cylinder, but dont bash me when you've only "read" about people being much faster than me. that was my point exactly, is if you havent done it (launched an M6 on DR) or just havent raced at a track at all, dont give me ****. anyone can give oppinions/advice no matter what theyve seen or heard so gimme some of those, which is why i started the post.

anyways...
GLD is really old and has tons of rubber.lol.
im gonna go back soon and be more prepared. im gonna try the tires at around 15PSI or so, instaed of 28.hehe.

try launching at 2500-3500 rpms playing with the clutch and feathering the gas to get it just right....gld is different everytime i have went...sometimes it hooks sometimes it doesnt...when its hooking really well u have the problem of bogging, when its not its spinning even with the bfg's i was running.

all u have to do is practice practice practice and pray your rear end doesnt blow up.

Well after I sifted thru all the comments I got the main idea of the post- how to hook-up.

Dave has some good advice for ya, I have been to the track and had the same problems you are havin now. You know the car is capable of faster times based on your mph, but wondering how to get it there. You are in a tough horsepower area. You have enough power to break the tires loose, but just not quite enough to bring the motor right back up if you bog it. And no, I'm not sayin this just because I have more power, its a fact of life. I was in your exact shoes 4 years ago at the track. Its hard tryin to launch a M6 car- you have the added benefit of DR's, I was running street tires.

I would also recommend playin with your PSI. I wouldn't go much below 15 as they can get a little wobbly at the end of the track. Another quick thing you can do to get a little more traction and weight transfer is un-hook your front sway bar. It will allow your front end to come up a little easier.

I honestly wouldn't be too worried about your rear-end comin apart. I know they are a weak point and should be babied, but they are usually decent until you start dippin into the twelves.

Also Mat- at what RPM are you shifting? Don't bother running the car up to 5700 or more. I will almost guarantee you will be faster if shift closer to 5500. The LT1 stock cam falls on its face right after 5500 so there is no point in going past it. I know every car is a little different, but its worth a shot. I knocked a little off my time trying that method- see how it works for you.

wow, what a hostile thread. what i said about that being slow was just a joke matt. i didn't think you would take it seriously. i realize that a manual is 1000X harder to launch than an automatic and that your car doesn't hook up. i saw a almost completely stock ls1 with just a clutch run almost 13 flat. i know your car has the potential to go faster than you did. i thought you already had lca's and stuff like that...all BMR or somethin... oh well. theres my semi-long post like everyone elses.

Another thing to add, I don't know what you have for rear suspension, but after I ditched the stock LCAs and rear panhard, I dropped a half second off my time. i run on street tires, no DR's. I lowered the psi to 20 lbs and I burn the junk off the tires a little. the tires I use are Hankook Ventus sport K104's. They suprisingly hook like snot when heated. I have zero spin, that's right zero spin on street tires and all UMI performance rear suspension. on of the bigest thing you can do as well is weight transfer. If you want to hook up good, talk to Tim (octaneZ) on MFBA. His suspension is dialed in and he only has 320 somthing hp but runs 11's. I have seen it personally do it. He hooks unreal and looks like it is shot out of a cannon. Get the power to the ground and you will beat a lot of cars with more power than you.
