Storing the car for the winter...

Anything special you guy know of that I should do before I consider it "stored" and start driving my winter car? My plans were just going to sit in my garage(not heated). I figured since the insurance is running out in about a week I should prolly figure out what to do with this thing.

take the battery out.

Put it up on jackstands if you have newer tires.. or if you wish. Could leave flat parts in your tires from sitting.

You don't want to put it on jackstands, you wan the suspension to stay under the normal load. Plus tires now days are like the tires in the past, they don't get flat spots from sitting for the winter.

Here's what I did(am doing) to my car for the winter.
Use a dust sheild car cover.
Put something to cover the intakes and exhaust(gotta make sure nothing lives in there)
Put Damp-Rid in the car(absorbs water)
Fuel stabilizer
Do an oild change, flush the coolent, and check all the other fluids and more Double checked the tire presure to make sure everything's perfect
Unhook the negative cable from the battery

Thx for the imput, just did oil change and flush and fill about 2 weeks ago so were good there, i think? Glad you said something about tires, I was thinking about the jackstand thing, but guess we dont need to do that. And I got a thing of Sta-bil(sp?) in the garage now so, I guess all I need to get is a cover and one of those water absorbancy things.

Again thx guys, and it didnt even take an hour to get several responses, u guys rock!

tire manufacturers still say get it off the tires, put jack stands under the suspension, throw a few dryer sheets in the car to keep mice away (you can't close all the holes)

I'd do that myself but I'd hate my car to smell like laundry.
