Every so often when I go to start my car, my engine will start to kick over like normal, but at the end of kicking over it dies. I have had an instance where I was able to hold the key in the starting position and it stayed started, but as so as I let go it died. What could be wrong with my car? I already know that its not the timing belt. Thanks.

I would guess the ignition switch is bad.The thing you put the key in.

Look at your air filter. It should be fine, because you're able to start it, air blows in.Probably a broken valve in the engine. That happened to my friend's pickup. It's an automatic, but it "chokes" like a standard if he doesn't put gaz. Try this: before it shuts down, give it some gaz on neutral. if it doesn't shut, I'd say a broken valve.

Sounds like the main relay. Buy one at the dealer, $100, and have it installed.
