recently i swaped the engine in one of my crx's with a zc d16, the cars an si with the 1.6 SOHC, dose the dohc require an ecu swap as well?

the ecus used for dohc zc engine swaps are the civic si ecu, the 2nd gen integra ecus and obviously the original zc ecu.
does that situation only happen at idle or is it happening when driving it bogs out?

if it has the DOHC ZC then you can get an ECU from a 1st gen integra if it's the SOHC ZC then i dunno what you can use. a civic guy should be able to help you with that.

like forcefedsi said check the coolant make sure it's topped up.

alright this has nothing to do with your ecu as this is a common problem on hondas. Undo your raditor cap and run your engine while topping up your coolant. If problem persists i would then check your iavc (idle air control valve). I would remove it and clean it out and check to see how dirty it really is. This is a start to your problem. If problem continues post back here and we can help you further.

I think your right on the ball buddy!
i did any engine swap, started the engine for a few seconds with no coolent in it. so most likely this is the issue. i will also clean out the IVAC . car is in the body shop now geating painted and all, so i'll deal with it when it gets here!
thanks for support guys!
