That falls within the production range specified in the TSB. Have your dealer
update the TCM.

Just turned 9000 on my '04 and still no change in shift pattern. I'm
going to have to go back to the dealer again I guess. BTW, my '04 has
a manufacture date of Aug 12, 2003

Where is this TCM fuse on my '04 Sonata? I've looked, but can't find
one called TCM?

My 2oo2 Elantra does the same thing. From new. Software update and all. My
dealer says the same thing. "this is normal". We all know a car shouldn't
work like this, so the BIG question is, what else does Hyundai consider
"normal"

Re: 2003 Sonata 2-3 up shift problem
I would think these high RPM's can't be good for the engine, so I'm
making sure to get regular oil changes and keep all my records. I
think I'll be getting an engine replacement before my 100,000 miles
are up. I like the car, but sure wish I had selected something other
than a Hyundai

DOHC engines are made to rev high (unlike pushrod engines). It's not
taking much, if any, life out of the engine, it's just killing your
gas mileage.

That it is doing. I still am unable to over about 17.5 MPG (Except on
the highway, where I can get about 23-25

That's pretty bad. Mine is usually between 19-20. If I drive a long
trip on the highway I can get 24-25.
