The Cobalt SS is no more...

Civics are cool because of what you can make out of them, not really because of what they are. Think of it this way: Honda = Lego, The basic lego kit (civic) kinda sucks, but all the other cool lego kit's (tegs, Ludes, etc.) parts still fit onto the basic kit, therefore making the crap basic kit alot better for a fraction of the price.

i think a good comparison would be the rsx type-s and the cobalt -ss i understand the price is significantly differentbut they are a much better comparison in my opinion.
i have a type s now and i had a heavily modded cavalier that i was told on the j-body forum is the fastest bolt on cav in ontario. but now it is stolen so... but i have a type-s now as i said and i believe that i enjoy the high revs (8000) and the v-tech, which is very addictive, better then i liked the torque on my cav that used to break my axels and transmissions... hahah... i loved the car though i was at cayuga with it at all kinds of events and did pretty well. here are both my cars... this is not the normal user by the way it is a friend of his that is using his account because i don't feel like starting my own and now i have been using it too much to stop.
anyways the pictures:

ARGh ... domestic VS import fury has been relived ... civics are not my fav. neither are anything made by GM or anything of the like ... sure some Fords are alright but overall im more into the import scene ... inifinity/nissan, Subaru ... dont like nor have i ever liked Honda ... no offense but i just never liked it ... all i can say is this thread must be a joke if that Honda passed up on a Cobalt ... i mean ... either the driver of the Cobalt just didnt give a crap 7 felt bad for you or maybe it was driven by a very crappy driver ... either way i just find it very weird!

i smoked a cobalt ss with my acura cl type-s. my acura is automatic and weighs 500 pounds more than the cobalt. i also had 3 people with me and it was on the highway. civics are economy cars and are made to save money not go fast. they are light and dont need big engine with torque to get around smoothly. luxury hondas like the acura tl or the honda pilot are heavy and therefore honda did put larger motors with torque in them in order to provide that smooth ride and passing power. honda is not stupid, they can get more torque and bigger motors in their civics but that would just make them worst on gas and increase maintenance which wouldn't make them a good economy car.

i have a regular 2.2l cobalt and the only thing i have done to it is it's been chipped, lowered, and a cold air intake... now i know the people "racers" around here can't drive worth crap and the only thing they have going for them is an annoying fart can but noone has beat me yet... and thats sad... civics are mostly junk and so are some of the drivers because all they can do is act ... and not play the part nor have the resources to do so ... point is you race a bad driver you have the best chance ... and if he knows how to drive and all you do is talk your screwed end of story, so you struck luckey

im jumping into this a little late, you gotta make sure your actually raing an ss supercharged. theres the regular ss model that just makes 170 hp and is a pig. its the 2.4 liter n/a version so look for the big wing and listen for the whine, otherwise yor racing the what i like to call the ricer version.
also to mitchthboss, what was done to your car and what did it run to be considered the fastest bolt on cavalier? i got mine with bolt ons into the 14's on my street tires on a really really nice day at the track

I cant believe this thread is still alive. YES it was supercharged, its was my buddy's friend that owns it, not just some random person. BTW, since this happened, he dumped a bit of cash into and it now is in the low 14s, im currently stuck running consistant 14.8s and 14.9s all night till my new motor is finished....

Might be doing something big with my motor aswell. Since no one has tuning support for 2.2 balts.

I think the ss/sc is a sweet car. Comes with factory ss leather seats, ss lip kit, 7 speaker (inc. sub) pioneer system, factory 18's. Def. worth the money IMO.
