I had a protege before too (n.a BP - tough little motors) so I give you props for building it up... but at the same time, I always have to wonder why ppl take the hard route to achieving the desired end state. A motor swap, addtl mods and stripped interior to run 14's?

Stock dynoed it had 170 whp at 10lbs. With an exhaust, intercooler, rased boost (by 4psi), turbo manifold, i made 200whp at 14lbs. Extremely slow for the mods but it held its own, never took it to the track but i could walk a stock Type-S and i had the rear of the car gutted low 2000 lb car. Not to bad for a 4 door. lol

Hahahah, yea i get that alot. I guess its just the want to be diffrent, or just one of the many diffren styles of modding.

My friend had a z28 with a supercharged (2psi) Lt1, he took me from a dead stop but on the roll i pulled on him till my bumper was out front then we hit 120 and he took off, the only reason i was able to pull on him was because of weight and he didnt know how to drive his car.

I love the z28 and a lot of V8's but its just not my tunning style.

True. Everyone has their own preference.

2 psi?? Whats the point? I didnt know they made pulleys to put out that little boost... in any case, thats probably driver error or poor condition of the car than anything else. LT1's are overshadowed by the LSX motors, but it doesnt mean they are exactly slugs either. My LT1 ran 13.9's @ 100 mph bone stock down to the paper filter. With I/H/E it was done to 13.4's@ 105, and on the small shot mid 12's @ 115.. (all times on road race set up.. with slicks and a drag setup, I think low 12's/high 11's are possible with the mph)

If I had to build up a 4 banger, id be all over the mazdaspeed 3/srt-4 neon.

yes, but the k20 is getting played out, all hondas are starting to get played out the swaps are getting more and more common. Peoeple need to start building the sinlge cams up they can produce an easy 330hp and for pretty darn cheap.

I agree ^

You know wat I dont get? Being able to have the "Fastest" car is as equivalent as who has the bigger wallet. Hell i've seen a turbo'ed toyota Tercel (Probably motor swapped) smoking any car coming its way. it was rusted to hell also.
I'm all about how fast I can get around the corner, hence the reason why I am saving up to buy an E30 M3, doesnt get funner than that to me!

p.s I used to have a protege 5, those cars are soooo fun to drive, it was like a go-kart.

That the mentality of a lot of Honda owners. If it doesn't turn backwards, and have an H on it, it's crap. Too bad the rest of us know the truth. Oh wait, before all the Honda freaks jump on me, the H, and K series do turn the right way, finally.

It's ugly :P

For me a car is about the entire package: acceleration, braking, turning, cornering, suspension... the whole deal. It was hard for me to find a car that did all of those things well, let alone a car that did all of those things great. The MR2 is a prime example of a car that does everything well, and a few mods made it do everything REALLY well.

Being able to accelerate like mad is great, but if you can't take a corner your car is just a liner. On the road course I dominate because I accelerate well, hit the corners hard, and stay glued when it counts.

Once the MR2 is done this year (400 whp and all the suspension to match) I'll be waiting patiently for the opportunity to import my dream car from the UK- a 1996 Lotus Elise 111. Oh man... excuse me, I need to go change my pants.
