Back in 97 you could bank on that... these days, nice dice.

my friends father is a cop and i remember him saying that as long as your into the intersection while the light is yellow then u havent run a red light amber light means proceed with caution in the rule books since when is it against the law to not stop for a yellow light? especially when you werent speeding and in the rain

Bump this thread to the top...Case is tomorrow morning. I'm getting a bit nervy but I've laid everything out in case the cop does show and I have to defend my case. All in all as the year went by and I kept reading it seems that if I do have to defend it I have a good chance of not being convicted. I gained an extra point over the year as well with getting my full G licence as well as not getting anymore moving violaion tickets (had the noise one) so that is still the only serious ticket I have. We'll see what plays out tomorrow and hopefully my record and more importantly my insurance doesn't get facked because of a one time minor lapse. That would suck. I'll update this when I get home.

P.S. Thanks for all the advice guys.

COP WAS A NO SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a sigh of relief!!! So my record stays clean and everything is groovy!!!!!! Thanks Kazanak, crazyae and darryloake!!!

The Prosecutor offered me the chance to plead guilty to a lesser charge (she didn't say what though) which I refused and requested it be taken to trial. I knew the officer wasn't there so I didn't have too much to worry about. Plus in the end I noticed that the ticket didn't have my vehicle description at all but just the license plate number so that was a huge gain for my case.

Close thread please.

Congrats!

I too received considerable pressure from both the Crown and a court officer to plea down to another charge once. Though I couldn't remember what the officer looked like, I had a strong feeling he wasn't there. I refused the plea and stood before the JP. The Crown THEN admitted the fact that the cop wasn't there and I walked.

Don't ever think those slimeballs play fair!

Yeh I noticed that right away. They don't say..oh you, you and you are free to go because the officer isn't there..lol...so many people took the lesser charge. I think they were pretty much all speeding charges down to like 10 over and what not so I guess that's not so bad.

Glad to know you won too!!!!..Stick it to the man.

[ivi] street rep is low. keep going
going for a plea bargain/pleading guilty usually reduces the fine and eliminates the points

so they had the trial right after the hearing? usually those are scheduled much later... the cops never show up to the hearing.
