Question V6 Supercharged... Is it possible???

Hey guys, I am new to the whole forum thing and i am giving it a try cause i can't find any info on it. I have a 96 maro with nothing really done to it but i want to get something done or sell it, depending on how hard this will be. I was looking at the grand prix GTP and it has about the same motor but supercharged. I was wondering if anybody knew anything about this or have seen it done, tryed, etc. If anybody could help me it would be great. Thanx

anything is possible, a few people have done it using a centrifugal super charger (like powerdyne) the gtp one won't fit (need one that's on the front of the engine)

It can't be done sorry. Many people have tried in the past and no one has yet to get it done.
You can search for a used Powerdyne supercharger kit for the 3.8. Or you could always put a turbocharger on it.

BTW where in IL are you? I live in Kenosha which is right on the IL/WI boarder.

I live right next to joliet if you know where that is. If not then i live about an hour SW of Chicago. I mean i knew this supercharger was gonna be a pain in the ***, and i already figured it wouldn't fit. But it wouldn't even fit if i had to cut into the dash?? I haven't got to get a good look at a gtp yet or measure it up. Anyways, if I can't how good are those powerdyne's? Do 2 of them go well? and which would be the better solution, the powerdyne or turbo compared with price and power?

super charger is better on low end, turbo is better high end (typically)a powerdyne type is a better s/c than the roots (like the gtp)

The intake on the Roots type supercharger for the L67 Engine would be in the back of the motor on our RWD camaros. Think camarov6.com had a thread on it. People where talking about having to modify their entire firewall, dash, and take a chunk out of their windshield to get it to fit. To Date, no one has done it. Yeah those roots type SCers are cheaper than powerdyne, but the money spent to modify the firewall, dash, and windshield just isn't worth it,

Found this when just browsing for cool stuff.

http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...9?idx=1&p=5643

Looks like this guy got a roots type supercharger installed on an LS1 with the only modification to the plastic cover that the winshield wipers lay on.

From the pictures, it looks like they turned the supercharger around so the intake is in the front, and then added a side pully that runs to the back to turn it. They Still had to pull the engine to do this though.

that's a new magnason (I think that's who makes it) it's small, and expensive, not real efficient (was ona show a couple weeks ago they seemed to think the idea was good, but the power was disappointing)
