One of my buddies made a good point, if you get pulled over "street racing", just have an empty beer bottle beside you. "What'z do problem occifer? I was sshhppeeeding? No way, I'm jusshhht drunk". Presto, 12 hour suspension, and car impounded for 12 hours. WTF eh.

Since the OPP have jurisdiction on the majority of divided highways in the province, they're in a position to lay more charges under these changes than most other police forces.

For clarity's sake however, it should be noted that these changes are in force province-wide. If you're caught doing 100kph in a 50kph residential zone, Metro, Peel, York, or any other police force are going to be just as enthusiastic about using these changes as the OPP. Face it, Fantino isn't the only top-cop with a political agenda, and "making our streets safer" is big-time political capital right now.

Yup - I already knew that, I should have clarified and said that from what I heard in the media - it came across as only the OPP were enforcing this.

Yeah its a stupid idea. But is that really an alternative. Dude I know got a 12hr last weekend and he was doing 50 over?!

Picked is car up in the AM and off he went.

Instead of fire extinguihers on the A-piller ricers will have mickeys.

a Guy on a crotch rocket caught doing 193 in a 70, and another caught doing 186 in a 60.

and a Cavalier caught doing 175 in a 60 (Z24 that wasn't you was it? LOL)

I like this law somewhat because it catches a lot of retards. I mean if you're going 175 in a 60 you deserve that one week suspension. But if you're going 150 in a 100 with pretty much the flow of traffic like on the QEW, you should get some slack. I mean on many of the highways, most of the time 20+ over is what everybody is doing. On the left express lane, the flow of traffic is pretty much around 110-120 on DVP, 120-130 on 401, 130-140 on QEW, depending on times of course. The law should judge the situation before handing out suspensions, but since that will be based on a person's opinion, it can't hold as a law.

Cracky street rep is low. keep going
its good for tools doing it on slow speed limited streets..but out on the highway... lameness. obviously there are times on their you shouldnt be doing it, but if you are out on the 401 in bumf*cknowhere with minimal traffic, bucking along at 150-160 isnt a big deal. If you get caught at that speed should you get a ticket? yes, but not analy raped at the side of the road by the OPP. this is a laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame law.

not to mention its targeted towards stopping a very small amoutn of accident causers and/or deaths. (35 supposed deaths in almost a decade..holy crap. something liek 0.4% , big whoop)
