Why don't any of you like skylines? Do you know anything about them? The r32gtr was the best car of its time. The r33 was wack, and the r34 is the best japanese car of all time. Period. I'm dumbfounded as to why nobody on this thread likes skylines.

sometimes its because of fan-boi comments like yours.

why was the r33 "wack"? other than "looks" they were all basically identical with a logical progression in chassis and drivetrain improvements through the years/models..

the gtr's of all years were simply comparable to the cars in its class. the supra, skyline, nsx, gto, 911, etc were all very similar in performance and all are/were equally as good, with the only differences being that some were better in different areas.

How am I a fan boi? The r33 gtr was "wack" because it almost blew the immense reputation that the r32 gtr had built for years. In case you don't know, I'm speakin of Japanese Group A racing, and later on the gtr n1 in group N racing. The r33 almost blew the title that the r32 had held for years. Luckily the r34 was a true supercar and dominated once more.

P.S. Before you call me a fan boi again, make sure that I'm not somebody whos been studying skylines for almost 4 years. Thanks for comin out

lol, theres no point in studying a car that chances are you wont own. you dream about it, you fantasize, you wish you had one but you wont, and if you ever do itll be 15 years old or older and will have had a hard life. dream about something better, like the hot girl from down the street

you cant compare race cars to street cars, no matter how "showroom stock" they are.
racing competition is an entirely different animal, and by suggesting that a street car was somehow inferior because it wasnt as successful in racing is... how do you say... "wack".
maybe (considering you are quite the 4 year college student of skyline "U") you could tell me what the differences were in the r33 that caused it as a street car to be the limp noodle of the 3 generations. please include the chassis changes that made it worse, and the drivetrain changes that did the same. after all... youve been studying the car for 4 years so you clearly know the answers to my questions.

and please dont call a sports coupe a supercar.... supercars are not grocery getters with factory mods.

he sounds like the guy that came up to us up in woodbridge last year or the year before oogling the r32 gtr telling us how he was the biggest gtr fan in the world...

.. and then followed that up by asking if it was a rb26 inside lol... and when we said yes.. he thought we swapped it

he thought it was the fastest car in the world... with 280hp

Funny thing is, I didnt even live in woodbridge last year and studying skylines does not make me a fan boi because they've always been my dreamcar. Seeing as i'm planning to buy one next year its good to learn all I can so I know what I'm getting myself into I don't really care whether it's 15 years or older, because I like the r32 perfectly fine. You bought a cavy, you like it, I'll buy a skyline, I like it. Done.

To answer your question about why the r33 did not perform as well as the r32 did: When the r33 came out, it was heavier than the r32, as well as less aerodynamic, meaning it didnt streamline as well as Nissan had hoped. This, coupled with a slight lack in responsiveness meant that the r33 would not be as great as the r32. This opened up a window for other japanese cars such as the Supra and RX-7 to blow away the Skyline.

Okay, I acknowledge your point about comparing Sports Cars to Racing Cars, but you have to agree that they start out on the same platform, no?

ok, let me get this straight... it didnt "streamline"? i have no idea what that means, but as you are such a student of the car i guess youre right. what i cant seem to understand though, is where you say "it didnt streamline as well as Nissan had hoped.". are you trying to say that they tested it in a wind tunnel, but then found that they were wrong? do you have anything to back up this claim? i'm sure you do becuase after all, you know everything about the car.
now what responsiveness are you talking about? could you please elaborate on what you actually mean in relation to how the car actually drives.
as far as weight... isnt the r34 heavier than the r33? so how does the r34 stand in this equation? to quote the great colin chapman "to go faster, add lightness". wouldnt this mean that the r34 was at a disadvantage to the r33 as a result of it putting on the pounds?
so these "slight" changes to the r33 allowed other cars to "blow away" the gtr... wouldnt that suggest that the r32 wasnt really that dominant? i mean if a "slight" change allows another car to gain such great ground (from being thoroughly dominated by a car, then blowing it away the next year) wouldnt that mean that the changes were significantly greater than you suggest?
the only problem with this theory is that the car remained basically unchanged througout the 3 generations other than the body, and slight drivetrain spec changes.

thanks for educating us with your great knowledge btw
