The Z24 has way shorter gears... I'd say it would win.

Ok, let me be patient, but if I put up a post with specs I'm going to get them ing right, the base coupe was 2617lbs with your gay ass 2.2L that wasn't even OHC, it was push rod with 120hp, with pwr to wt, 21.81 lbs per hp. so you don't even know your own shitty domestics,
The 1995 Z24 is 2788lbs, with 2.3l Dohc 150 HP, 145ft,lbs of torque (1996 was 2.4L making 5 more lbs of torque which wouldn't make any difference) so I'm not wrong, your just to quik to bash on Honda's when I was just lookin for opinions dick!!!

Oh, and just so you know, those numbers are from Motor Trend Magazine so go tell them their wrong. and read my name, Honda Tech doesn't mean I know nothing about domestics, I know enough not to buy, work on, or recommend them. so don't think your all hail king domestic man.
Cheers

thanks for telling me stuff i already knew. while were at it, the 00-02 2.4 had another 5tq over the 96-99. and where did i bash hondas in this thread. i simply stated the base engine is more suitable for the si. its an opinion, deal with it, but then again, i guess you cant...probably why you got a honda, so you could fit in and didnt have to deal with negative opinions towards yourself and the car. if you cant take opinions, get off the internet.

i know, you must be one of those "im always right" people and no one can disagree.

you want a simple comment and opinion...fine...the civic will lose.

trying to be nice, but no he did not do any "ghey" convertions on his car, its pretty mint, and I did alot of the work on it with him and its a Civic body with Integra hardware, if you read the thread before this one about who will win he spells it out clearly what has been done.

I can take opinions and I just did, your opinion, but I was just telling you that you were wrong about the numbers, but you already knew that, than if you knew, why did you say the Z24 weighed less? to give it the advantage but really that was the weight of the shittier cav. so back to the original question that had specs posted correctly, any other opinions, and yes I know yours "StealthZ"

Do you guys realize your only quoting peak power. That really doesn't mean jack when the power to weight ratio is so close.

i dont really give a domestic or import, but rest assured a zz4 cavalier would absolutely destroy a civic si.

Speaking from experience: I had an 02 Protege 5 manual. dropped clutch power shift.. the whole deal. Couldn't get in front of my friend driving a '00 Z24 automatic.

Honda tech is a tool. Argueing quotes from motor trend is like running in the special olympics even if you win your still retarded. GM builds engines that last just as long as honda motors if not longer. So you need to haul ass back to washing cars at classic honda (no such thing btw).

BTW The term Z is a chevrolet signature dateing back to the 60s nissan dont own .

Z28 biatch

The cavalier will waste the SI.. stop denying the abvious.

ok you go buy a gm and see how they run! and see if it runs perfectly for more than two years, by the way a decent but still shitty gm starts at like 20 grand well you can get them from 9 grand to about 100grand depending on car and package you get. but with HONDA the cars last for like 8 years minimum, who knows how good the owner takes car of it! And working at HONDA would be the , and if you tried to wash a car at Honda you would have to pay for a new paint job for the car! not saying he does wash cars but HONDA TECH gives it away

Premium Dude 02-06-2006 11:51 PM

My friend drives a cavalier. It's always broken. He replaced the headgaskets 3 times. None of my friends with imports have problems like this, so out of pure personal experience, my judgement on reliability is heavily biased towards imports.

As for performance, well, I like to think there is more to it then two numbers. A GREAT car to me is one that is fast, but nimble. If all you care about is acceleration, then by all means, go drag race. But thats for pussies who cant drive.

So let's see, for about $15,000, including the cost of the car, I can make a civic hatch reach 350hp no problem. Plus it's light, and with a nice suspension setup it will take most cars. Oh and amazingly the reliability will still be there. Sounds like a great deal for a good track car.

That's why I choose imports over domestics.
