Driving w/ an expired licence $325.00 fine???

I got a ticket because my licence was expired by 8 days. The cop wrote "Operating vehicle with no licence" on the ticket, THEN put in code 32-(I) which is for operating a vehicle with an inproper licence. Iam going to fight it obviously, what are my chances do you think? Anyone else had something similar happen?

This happened a couple times to some friends of mine. One got just a warning since it wsa only 2-3 days over, the other got a similiar ticket. In cases like this, I'd suspect it all comes down to the amount of days after the expiration, and if the officer is leniant.

That might be a fatal error if the ticket describes one offense but indicates the wrong section of the HTA.

if the ticket describes oneoffence but indicates the wrong section the justice of the peace or judge will just amend the ticket in the court room to the correct sections/offences.
you pretty much are forced to pay it.

cause really if its expired you dont have one (legally)

I went 4 months before getting caught with an expired license. Definately take it to court, I fought it and didn't even have to go to court, I got a letter in the mail saying the ticket was thrown out.

I've had this happen to me last year, first thing you do is get your license renewed . . . before the ticket is input into the system . . . Then plead guilty to a lesser charge, in court the tell prosecutor that you didn't get the renewal notice in the mail and was unaware that your license has expired. Tell him you had your license renewed ASAP and if your dressed all spiffy and put on a good show he'll throw the ticket away. I had that charge and speeding 35km/h over the limit. total of just under $700 in tickets. I got my license renewed the next day, when i faught it the prosecutor dropped the no license and dropped the speeding from 35km/h over to not obeying a posted sign . . .all together it was $90
